Weekend Randomizing

Friday night, Meri, Leon and I watched The Last Holiday.  Well, just part of it... and Leon fell asleep partway through the opening scenes.  But otherwise he is a HUGE Queen Lateefa fan! (I kid..)  Meri had been hoping to attend the Haunted Forest but her friends couldn't go at the last minute, so she had to stick around with me and I wouldn't let her watch anything scary.  I'm a mean mom.  She DID enjoy the movie though.

Anyway, Saturday rolled around.  The three of us dropped Ryan off at work and then ran some errands before attending a 4H craft thing.  Leon was probably a little too young, but he sat on my lap as I sewed up the seams of his pumpkin.  He helped stuff it.

Then they made boo boo bunnies.  After that we had to take off.

Ryan needed us to bring him his work clothes for his 1st job that he needed to be at by noon.  They were in the dryer when we left the house...  He is working two jobs in the same mall nowadays!  I'm very proud of him & the man he's growing up to be.  He did take the long way around, but he'll get there.  He worked a 15 hour day on Saturday!

During our errands, which included a stop at Sam's Club, I picked up a new movie for Leon to watch in the car on our little jaunts.  I was getting sick of Little Mermaid and Mulan...  I got him a 2 dvd pack of 11 Christmas Claymation singalong songs and the movie of the Little Drummer Boy.  But after
hearing the singalong a few times now, I'm a little creeped out by a certain song..  "Won't you sit on my lap today?"  Meri was too and pointed that out.  I don't remember that song from the movies, so now I'll have to find that one and watch it.  Maybe my imagination will tone down a little.

I got some sewing done in the afternoon on Saturday and got Meri's Michonne cape almost done.  I'll be finishing it up over lunch today.  I need to rip 3 zippers from some old clothes during that time too to be used by her leather vest.  I got it all measured out and the pieces cut.  That fabric cuts like a dream!  Sews easily enough but the seams don't iron flat at all...  Using a pressing cloth (an old dish towel) I discovered how to just make it look like it was ironed on the right side of the fabric.  There is no hope for the inside...  Oh well, at least it won't itch.  I don't think.  I might do some top stitching to hold it down.  That is a thought...  I'll show you pictures probably on Friday after all the trick or treating nonsense is done.

Ryan has been spending some of his free time working on a haunted house for kids at his mall in one of the empty stores.  One of his jobs is sponsoring it.  With the help of our 4H leader, who used to have a haunted hayride every year, he has LOTS of materials to work with.  I hope it goes over well, because whoever did the advertising for it screwed up with the ages of kids and times that it will be open.

Meri went to the Haunted Forest on Saturday night instead with some friends and found out that it wasn't that scary at all.  She was more scared standing in line with the girls for 2 hours than the actual event.

With Robb out of town, whenever Leon woke up, I took him back to bed with me.  So with a queen sized bed, that little monster has to push me off the side two nights in a row.   And he would randomly sit up, point at my glass on the bedstand and say, "Water" before quickly dropping back off to sleep again.  I don't know if he was warning me about the water or if he was thirsty but too tired to take a sip.  If Robb had been there, I would have put Leon back in his own bed after he winded back down... But I was too exhausted so whatever.

Robb was gone until Sunday morning and I was SO glad to have him home!  I did have the tire debacle all straightened out but today he gets to change one all on his own...  Not my car and I won't get into that here...

Sunday after church, we relaxed just a little before heading down to a joint church Reformation service & dinner about 1.25 hours away.  It was wonderful!  I sang alto in the choir and with a very full church, singing A Mighty Fortress in parts, my heart swelled!

Did you know that "stressed" backwards spells out "desserts"?  It works in the opposite direction as well...  Because after the church dinner, Leon sat on his.

We got to Skype with Maddy last night when we got home!!  It's going to be Thanksgiving when we see her again.  Hi Sweetie!

Well, it's Monday and I am once again relieved to be sitting in my office chair.  Not necessarily ready to speak to clients yet, but I'm here.  Got my to do list and here we go!!!
