A House Full of Turkeys

I'm talking about the bird... What'd you THINK I meant?

Sheesh. I don't talk smack about my family ALL the time, do I?

But the kids are acting very turkey like around here as well...  And I LIKE turkey, so that's ok.

Maddy is having a great time with Leon and he adores her.  He's been showing her all his new tricks and words he's learned since the last time she was home.  Like saying all of her college friends names and "Moose hat"!

Lately he's found one of the girls old dolls and has adopted him.  He sleeps with Baby, eats with Baby, puts Baby in the potty...

He's going to be great daddy someday!  Except for the eye poking, that's not acceptable...  And I hope he grows out of the "drop the baby on his head" thing.

Last night I was bringing the demon dogs inside.  The ones that live in the garage, just to clarify...  We've had to put them on chains when they're outside due to their penchant for digging holes under the fences and not coming in when we want them to.  So last night, I was in my office doing something computer-wise for my mom.  And I am TRULY thankful for Logmein...  It's just like sitting at my mom's desk to find that file she misplaced.

But I digress... Or am blocking...  But anyway, I realized that my office telephone didn't have her new house number on it.  So I carried it with me to go get it when I noticed the dogs hadn't come in yet so I thought I'd be the sweet soul and bring them in.  That way I could go to bed sooner!

With phone in hand, I opened the back door of the garage and the two beasts started to rush past me.  The chain got caught on the corner of the back stoop and the dogs couldn't make it to the door.  Well, one couldn't anyway.

Me in stocking feet, stepped out onto the snow filled stoop and unhooked the chain from where it was hung up.  As I did that, black beast ran around me wrapping the chain around my feet.  White beast ran the other way and I had the sudden sensation of a hog tied calf.  I won't say cow, because that's too close to home.  They ran around a few times before I could stop them.  My ankles were in a tangled up tight mess.

By this time, screaming, I fell back onto the threshold of the door and sat down, grabbing the chains to keep the demonic dogs from popping my feet off my legs.  As I pulled one closer and tried to get my feet free, the other ran away a little tightening the noose around my ankles.  I realized I had the phone in my lap, so with great distress let go of one of the chains and called Robb's cell phone.  "HELP!!!"  He came running and released the dogs so I could untangle my feet.

If I'd been thinking, I would have just unhooked their collars from the chains and let them run around the yard.  So be it if they get loose and terrorize the neighborhood in the dark!!!  They always come back to the front door after an hour anyway.  But in that state of panic, you don't think of things like that.

So anyway...  It's Thanksgiving tomorrow.  Here's my list of what I'm thankful for.  It's not a complete list, mind you... and not in any particular order.

1) Thankful for God and my freedom to worship how He wants me to.

2) Thankful Leon is still with us!

3) Thankful I have a husband who loves me!

4) Thankful Ryan is employed!

5) Thankful I have all my kids under the same roof again!

6) Thankful the girls and I are close!

7) Thankful for the many blessings I have that I can't seem to think immediately when going through a rough patch.

8) Thankful for all you imaginary friends!

9) Thankful that my eyes in the back of my head are still working well, even though I need reading glasses for the front ones.

10) Thankful I didn't get hobbled last night!

Have a Happy Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!   Talk to you on Monday.
