What do you think of our tree this year? Like the shadowy place at the top? And the droopy angel? Can't find the little glittery star that Meri made in preschool... It's probably put somewhere safe!
The tree is supposed to be a pre-lit thing, but about 60% of it this year is strung lights put on by me. And it's dropping fake needles like it has a rare form of tree alopecia. Look it up.

Even with the ladder, I could only get one strand of lights at the top area, so there's a shadowy spot. Can't wait for the "after Christmas" sales to go on and we can pick out a new one!
This morning, Meri asked if she and I could just sit on the couch and talk. Wow. I hadn't realized how busy I am in the mornings pre-work that I don't normally just have time to sit down anymore! I told her that if we got the dogs taken care of, started the dishwasher and got the car started, then I'd have 10 minutes for cuddling. Eh, the car didn't get started, oh well. It's a balmy -4 degrees out this morning, no sweat.
So we sat and gazed at the tree and talked for roughly 10 minutes. It was really nice, just mommy/daughter time. You don't get that all the time. The mood for that isn't right all the time.
But this morning was perfect. I happened to look at the clock and we both jumped up in astonishment. How did it get to be 8am so soon??!!

I love those moments-not the balding tree but the cuddling. DJ doesn't cuddle. The most I get from him is a slight punch in the arm.
Oh, the aggravation of those pre-lit trees. Ours has the same disease. We keep it because the others are so expensive and skimpy.
Run, run Rudolph is what I'm singing in my head now. ;)
Ahh One year I had the whole tree done and realized that I had to clip the top of the tree in order to get the angel on...you guessed it I cut right through the wires!!
Run Rudolph run!!
