Stolen moments

Ah, what a wild week it's been!  And as usual... the camera is in the car that is gone.  I've got some awesome pictures including one of Leon butt naked in front of the tree on Christmas morning!  But I'll have to blur a little on that one before I post it...

Christmas Eve was a rush, Christmas day was just us and fun, Christmas past one day was relaxing, and Friday and Saturday we traveled.  We attended a wedding of my nephew in the Chicago land area.  It was beautiful.  And as I said, I've got tons of great pictures!

My mom, sister and niece along with Leon rode in my car with the dvd player and then Robb, our kids and my dad rode in his car.  Even though we had a whole sack of goodies in each car, they were gone within 6 hours and we were hungry when we arrived.  Weird...  Because there was literally TONS of food!

But car food has no calories, so whatever...

At the wedding reception and dance, Leon mooched butter packets from various people including my cousins and their spouses that he'd never met, put the packets on the end of a fork and ate them whole.  That and the Hershey's kisses that rained like, well.. rain, he was kept fed and happy.  I don't think he had one bit of the food that we'd put on his plate... outside of the butter.  He was in a sugar/lard induced coma by the time the dance got rolling.  I danced to Sister Sledge, We Are Family, with almost all my sisters with me.  Sing it with me now!  With Leon sleeping on my shoulder.

I've got almost the same shot above, but this is quicker!  My little niece Brooke, watching the first dance.  It was adorable...  Her mom and myself were on the floor behind her taking pictures and she didn't even know we were there.

Nephew, niece, great nephew and nephew.  Making some moves on the dance floor and cementing friendships whilst making memories!

I've got a super video of my nephew and his mom, my sister, doing their mother/son dance.  It started with Baby of Mine, so I snapped a few pictures while I teared up and then turned the camera off.  Suddenly the record skipped and the DJ acted confused.  Then fast music started and Teresa and Alex started a dance routine they must have been practicing for months, or at least a few hours.  I scrambled to get my camera turned back on and captured most of it.  It's below.  Sarah, the bride, joined in towards the end.

Those two are going to have a great marriage!  Sarah is a super addition to the family.

Then we headed home.  The GPS taking us on a long winding tour of the countryside before it finally let us join in on the tollway.  Not that I really WANTED to spend $3.60 every time a toll came up, but it was faster and straighter than the windy things we had been led down.  Got home at a decent hour and my parents and sister took off the next morning around 5 am for their last leg of the trip.

The weather the last few days has been great for traveling and a wedding.  30s and 40s!  But long about 6pm Saturday night decided to drop about 50 degrees in a flash so the rest of the trip and loading my parents car in the dark of the early morning was a real bear!

Now suddenly Christmas, that I'd waited and anticipated all year long, is over.  I'm trying to let it down slowly, so I'm still listening to Christmas music while I do dishes.  The tree is still up and all the decor...  I'll probably leave that up til Meri's birthday.  She likes having it for that.

Pictures tomorrow, or whenever I find the silly camera...  For now, I've inserted a couple shots from my sisters that I've stolen off of FB.  I'm sure they'll say it's okey dokey!

HA ~ sounds like a fun holiday !
Weddings can be such fun and nostalgic .
I know I am still watching Christmas movies each night on demand till 2014 ` then I guess I will have to turn over the Christmas Tree to a New Year or at least undecorate it until we can plant it in the Spring.
We got one of those live 3 ft trees that you can replant.
Wising you all the best in the New Year .

Nothing like a wedding at Christmas! The butter reminds me of Jacob when he was little. He smeared every piece of fried shrimp with butter before he put it in his mouth. He was sick all night long. Ha! Great photos and memories.
