A Birthday She'll Remember.

Ok I lied.  Forgot that I'd be posting about a very special birthday today, so the wedding thingy will wait until tomorrow!

Today is Meredith's 14th birthday!!!  Happy Birthday Sweetheart!  She'll be getting her driver's permit this week, but will have to wait to drive her moped until the weather gets at LEAST above zero.

 

She will be having TWO special birthday dinners because her favorite foods for a birthday dinner was too long and we have to stretch it across two nights...  So last night I made carrot/pork stir fry and hot and sour soup.  With a side of rice.  lots.  

Tonight, Robb already has some steaks marinating.  The sides will be raviolis, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and I think YooHoo.  

Last night after dinner, Meri opened her presents with Leon's assistance.  Can you just picture what's going through his head with this pic?  Does she REALLY live up to this card??   Yes.  Yes she does!

 I ordered an edible image of her favorite hero, Daryl Dixon (real name Norman Reedus), from The Walking Dead, who coincidentally shares her birthday!  And whom she thinks she'll be marrying someday even though he is exactly 31 years older than her.   It could happen!

Thankfully the edible image arrived Saturday afternoon, just in time for the DQ to slap it onto an ice cream cake for us!  Can you tell she's surprised?!  That was hilarious!  She sucked all the air out of the room when I placed it in front of her.

After singing and blowing out the candles, I asked her what part of Daryl did she want?  She said, "His shoulder, his face, his cross bow and his hand."  That would mean 3/4 of the cake, so I asked if she'd settle for his heart.  She said that sounds SWEET!!!  So I cut out his heart for her.

And let me just say for the record.  Norman Reedus is yummy...

 

 Today, all three of my kids are off spending the day together!  I hope Meri has a wonderful day, filled with warm memories, because the winter is just TOO cold right now!
