Random like a lion

I almost blew away this morning...  Our town is in an official toupee alert.  Similar to a tornado warning, but watch for toupees flying around instead of houses.  The mayor has thus announced it on Facebook.

When Meri was 2 or so years old, I was uptown with her and about to pop into the post office.  It was a blustery day and the wind gusted up the street and seriously swept little miss Meri off her feet and into the air a little bit!  Wow, was she scared!!!  She had just seen Wizard of Oz out at my friend's and freaked a little bit.

The garbage can that blew into our yard with the last big wind has now left.  Either someone finally claimed it or it's blown on.

Our car situation has not improved much.  I had to do some chauffeuring this morning and we had to juggle the toddler car seat.

We attended a high school registration last night for Meri.  I know, right?!  YIKES!  How did she get old enough to get there yet?!  Picking out the classes was exciting and hearing the teacher's spiel about each of their areas was interesting.  Been through them a couple times already, but it's still a great diversion from normal evening life at my house.

A lot of the teachers and the principal asked about Maddy.  Did you hear Maddy's on the Honor's List at college?  Yep.  That's my girl!!

Got a care package ready to send to her if I can get my schedule and the post office's schedule in sync ever.  Tried yesterday...

And to round out my random thoughts, here are some leftover fabric flowers that my sewing group used for centerpieces at one of our events a few years back!  No one had claimed them for a long time, so I took them home with me at the last meeting.

Nice addition to my desk I think!

It gives me a springy feeling!  January - in like a lion, out like a lamb, right?

"blown away" has a new meaning for Meri then. Surprised the poor kid was not traumatized for life!

We always wait for a good stiff wind before we resort to rakes. It works every time. I like those fabric bouquets. Beautiful.
