Recreating your past

On Saturday morning, Meri and I attended our ASG (American Sewing Guild) meeting.  It was a lot of fun and I got to be a participant in a game of Jeopardy!  I won, but really... who's counting??  The categories were types of style, Casual, Classic, Bohemian, Arty, etc.  With each question getting progressively harder for each category.

Meri and I came home with lots of fun fabrics from the free table!!  I can't wait to dig in.  Actually I didn't wait!  On Sunday afternoon, I made something fairly simple that I'll show you next week because it will be in a care package this week for a certain college student that shall remain nameless...

Saturday afternoon and evening are a blur.  I don't remember what I did, but know that it probably involved a small child that likes to climb my legs and wants me to read the same book over and over.

Sunday after church, we went to Des Moines to pick up a sick car.  We had a freshly charged battery to drop into it and bring it home.  I guess that's my car today as Maddy's is with Robb just in case it can get fixed today and Robb's is still with Maddy.  I'll probably take this one up town this afternoon to see if it needs an alternator.  Ah cars!  You can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em.

The weather on Sunday was wonderful around here!  It was in the 40s!!  A lot of packed down snow and frozen slick spots melted from the driveway, but this morning, it's a bit treacherous again.  I had to spread some salt.  Meri took a tumble this morning on the way out to the car.

Leon knows his colors!!!  He can pull a fruit snack out of the packet and proclaim "LELLO!" or "BUE!!"  and two out of 5 times he's right!  It doesn't help much that his color-blind grandpa is helping him learn them though... "GRAY!"  "DARK GRAY!"  *sorry hon!  couldn't resist!*

Oh I remember what I did most of Saturday afternoon and evening!!!  The mornings sewing meeting inspired me to clean out my supposedly "walk in" closet!  My closet is the catch all for the clothes the kids glean out of their rooms that they don't want anymore.  I had boxes and bags of summer clothes, winter clothes and "I still want this but don't want to keep it in my room" clothes stowed in there as well as the obligatory sleeping bags and extra blankets.  It's a fairly large closet, but you wouldn't have guessed it.  Leon treated it as an "adventure" and climbed over things to get WAY in the back.

I managed to pull 9 bags of clothes out that are either so old that there is no WAY the kids could wear them again or the "Why on earth did I hang onto that?" type of clothes of mine.  A few things got pitched in the garbage.

While I did this, Leon also organized the hangers.  He's pretty good at that!  They really DO multiply when you're not looking.  Now the closet is well organized and on Sunday afternoon, Meri and I took all 9 bags up to the US AGAIN box up town.  I prefer to call it the Use Again box, but Meri insists that it's US again.  I don't think so.  I know it's a For Profit kind of thing, but wow, is it convenient!!!

My real fashion assignment was supposed to be pulling clothes out of the closet that aren't my colors, but really... I don't know what my colors ARE yet!  I haven't had them analyzed.  So for the moment, it was just so refreshing to find clothes that I thought had been lost that still fit me! I think my style is "whatever is comfortable and fits me".  That's a style, right?

My BIL just posted the re-creation photo that my siblings did with the wedding photographer last month!
Here we are many many years ago.

And here we are now!

It's amazing that all our smiles are so similar!

Well, enough fun time!!!  Gotta get my work done.  Talk at you all later!

I really need to organize my closet too but hate the thought of doing it. Instead, I think I might find the time to make top sheets for the granddaughter's toddler bed. Those dam things are way too expensive IF you can find them.

Go Leon! He is growing up fast. Your car troubles sound much like ours....instead ours involves replacing a transmission. Oh dear.
