My Sweetheart made me breakfast this morning!! Isn't he a keeper?!
He took one of my metal heart shaped cookie cutters and made me eggs... If you remember LAST year, he made heart shaped hard boiled eggs for me!
And on the SEWing side of Valentine's day!! I made a pillow for Maddy and shipped it off on Monday. She just got it yesterday so now I get to show you! I found an idea on Pinterest and put my own little spin on it. I wanted it to be out of denim but the only pieces I had left were not big enough for the pillow form that I had... so I improvised! Raw edges on denim is SO in! and when it does fray, it looks cool...
I cut the hearts out of some thick red felt, some white fur and then turned the denim around to the backside for the one. Pinned them into place and stitched from the bottom of the heart to the top of the piece, making it look like the hearts are hanging by a thread. I loved how it turned out!
For the back, I made the case into an envelope type closure, so she can pull it off in case she spills, coffee for example, on it. Then she can wash it easily.
She and some of her high school friends were on a "Don't Eat Chocolate" Dare since Christmas... The loser (the one who can't help themselves and eats chocolate first) has to buy dinner out for all the friends. They're all very honest girls, so Maddy even held off on white chocolate! That kind of put a damper on what treats we could send in her VD package... And of course I found out on the DAY I was shipping it that one of her friends broke down and lost the bet on Friday! Oh well, there is one chocolate rose in this package for such an event. All the rest of the treats were suckers, twizzlers, conversation hearts and other non-chocolate candies.
I lined a box with the remaining felt and glued it into place. I told Robb that it felt like I was lining a coffin and he asked how I knew that... I'll just say that I helped my mom do that very thing once a few years ago! Trust me... no difference... other than THAT one was satin AND wasn't going to be filled with candy.
I had bought several different kid valentines for Leon to give out at school, but knew he wouldn't use them all. I lined two of the inside flaps, that I didn't have enough felt for, with them. Then made little hearts to glue all over. It's not in this photo, but then we filled in all around with the candies.
On one flap, I glued half a red gift bag to tuck her Valentine card into.
I think she liked it!
Have a wonderfully romantic Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines day Val
Happy Valentine's Day! You're a good mama to send all those goodies to your girl. I'm a horrible mom this year. Just sayin'. Being snowed in the week of Valentine's does not bode well for goodies given to my kids and hubby.
I pinned that pillow on Pinterest! Good job.
Your Sweetie is a keeper!!
Wow Love is in the air! You have a wonderful hubby. He's a keeper.
And aren't you just vying for the best mom awards?!?!?!?
Ok I want to know the back story about lining the coffin with satin!
