Make Her Work!

Disclaimer: You will be exhausted at the end of this post.  You may NOT complain as you have been warned.
This weekend has flown by...
I tried to be as productive as possible!  Had to be.

Friday night.
Leon was with his mom until Sunday.  Robb and 2 others went to Kansas City to visit his sister.  I worked on the yard. hard.  One neighbor is having a graduation party in a couple weeks and I don't want our yard to look terrible compared to their beautifully manicured lawn...  It'll still look terrible, but just not as bad.

Saturday.
Took Ryan to work.  I took a load of garbage down to provide electricity for the neighboring college town.  Someone needs to supply them with juice for their stereos!  While there, I helped my brother-in-law move my niece into her apartment for the summer.

She's in a third floor apartment...  So I then went home to ice my calves...

Didn't really, but griped a lot.  If there is no one to hear you gripe, can you still gripe?  YES.
I need to get in shape before Maddy moves into her new 4th floor dorm room in the fall...

Took a car load of pop cans down to the recycling place and came away with $25!  That's a LOT of two liter bottles and cans...  of mostly Diet Dr. Pepper...  They'd been stacking up in the garage.

Had lunch out by myself.  Came back and straightened up the house a little, sorting through some of Meri's things that still pervaded the dining room.  Suffered screaming calves by taking several things down to her new bedroom.

Being all alone in the house has it's pros and cons.

Pro: I can have the music up as loud as I want while I work.  And no one can hear me sing!

Con: I have to take care of the dogs all by myself.

I actually got about 1.5 hours to sew Saturday afternoon!!  Got the pleating done on the bodice.  Then cleaned up by putting on clothes that don't have bleach spots or staticky thread bits and attended a graduation party of one of Maddy's old prom dates.  YEP... My cougar daughter dated a YOUNGER man!  Just for prom, but I can still pick on her.  :)

Came back to the house and made pizzas for supper.  Then hit another grad party for another guy friend of Maddy and old neighbor of ours.  My brother-in-law and niece came over while I was gone and eventually Robb and the gang arrived home too.  Spent the evening talking and laughing.

You can do that while you're alone too, but close the shades or people will think you're insane.

Sunday, Meri made me breakfast in bed!  After church, Meri treated Robb and I out for Mother's Day and our anniversary which is coming up.  Since I'm the mom, I chose my favorite Irish food restaurant.  Nothing says Mommyhood rules like shepherds pie made by someone else!

I got a CO2 cannister refill for my Sodastream from Ryan and a fun video of Kid President posted to my facebook wall by Maddy along with a phone call from her!  Kid President is so funny!  And I will never name my children Phone, unless they really LOOK like a Phone.

Sunday afternoon I got to sew more.  Leon didn't get home til mid afternoon and when he finally did get home, he only wanted Grandpa!  He was still kind of tired.  I let them snuggle and sneaked back upstairs to sew more.  He and I got lots of time to snuggle later.  It's amazing how much more he grew and talks in the few days he was gone.  He must learn so much every day but when a few days build up, he suddenly seems like a genius!  Which of course he is...

Sunday night, Meri asked if I could have the dress done by Tuesday night for her last school concert.  SURE honey!!  That's when I found that I may have forgotten to add an inch to the hem on the back panel of the dress.  I came up with a solution she didn't like.  She came up with a solution that would have added another week to the project.  So we ended the day angry with each other.  Grumpy Mother's Day!  After she went to bed, I got to looking at why none of the panels were lining up.  Found the problem!!!  In my effort to make sure I was using the correct panels, I inadvertently turned the panel pieces around and every single panel except the back one that had the invisible zipper put in perfectly needed to be ripped out.  Even the lining...

My bedroom is a pool of threads bits and snips now.  I was aggravated and sewed late.  Poor Robb...  Our tv had been moved out to the car for a Sunday school thing and while THAT had been moved back to our bedroom, the remote was still in the car.  And neither of us was willing to go out in the torrential downpour to get it.  He read his kindle for a little bit, then just put a pillow over his head to sleep.  When I realized he'd put down the kindle, I unplugged the iron and turned things off.

As I fell asleep, I mentally made note of the number of minutes I'd have available to finish the dress before Tuesday night.  Not many..  WHAT had I been thinking??  But Meri really wanted to look pretty for the concert, so I was determined to do this.  I've cancelled my lunch date today to sew but will still be going to my meeting tonight.  I'll make sure Robb has his remote control and will sew late tonight when I get home.  Then over lunch again tomorrow.  Meri can try it on this afternoon to make sure the fit is still good.  Not much to do to change it now, but at least it won't be a shock tomorrow night when she's getting dressed for the concert!

This is my Make It Work moment.  If I can't do this and make her look fabulous, then I definitely don't belong on Project Runway!  Actually my aggravated, snippy attitude WOULD make for great tv...  hmmm...

And deep breath. That was A LOT to do. I bet that the house felt massive while you were alone.

Wish I was there to help you, I hate invisible zippers, but they do look nice when done!
