We went to the fair. Need I say more?
Yeah probably... I've been cursed with the gift of gab...
Half way there, I remembered that we had the parking pass to park
withIN the fair gates, stuck to the fridge at home. It wasn't worth the
$8 to go back, so we kept moving forward. Found a spot for $10 right
outside the gates and not 5 miles away like we usually get stuck with
when we're being cheap. I gave my parking lot ticket to some friends at church the next day, who were going to the fair this week.
Leon tried out every tractor he could find that was unlocked or ready to be climbed on.
I won 1st place in the bridal area!! It shocked me because the lining was serged with brown thread... I REALLY didn't expect this one to place!
Isn't this cool?! This entry itself might get me to start quilting... Well, maybe when I retire.
Leon found a swmming pool for sale and they sprinkled Meri against her will.
American Gothic was in one of the main thoroughfares. Awesome!!! What you can't see are the thousands of people milling around their feet.

Not only did we find sheep, we found sheep you could write on!
And a horse to write on! I signed the saddle area for us and Leon signed the belly.
He got a cow hat from the 4H building. It was destroyed before we got much further...
The girls checking out the crazy rides. I would NOT go on one of them. Too gut wrenching.
Maddy and Leon were racing...

We hustled to get to the DNR building before some friends got done working there, but they'd already left. So we explored what that building had to offer.
DUCKS, TURTLES & GEESE!
And checked out the produce building. Leon and I explored upstairs while the girls waited downstairs for some apple slushies. YUM!!!

We let Leon play in the fountains with the other kids. It's amazing but this was something he was relatively timid about! Weird. The girls kept pulling him into it, but he would rather run away screaming.
He ended up drenched and happy.
It was shortly after that that the girls energy had waned and they wanted to just leave. Meri was too exhausted to walk back across the fairgrounds and never did get her ride, so we rode the air glide ride back to the front gates. Maddy walked the stroller over alone and met us there.
She wasn't willing to risk losing her flip flops on it.
Did you know that getting a selfie while riding these freaks Meri out? Can you see her fear? Leon had NO fear and scooted his little butt close to the edge so he could dangle his feet down.
We came home exhausted and needing naps. The girls especially. They'd
been up late with sleepovers or the drive inn. I had stayed up late
because I wanted to finish watching a movie for once in my life...
(I
do get to finish movies, but with Robb gone with Meri, I felt like
staying up late. Big mistake.)
Leon was asleep the instant his head hit the car seat.
We did stop for a few school supplies on the way home and really, that is the best time to go! When the kids are pooped and just go along with whatever you suggest because they just want to go home. They can be a little crabby, so it's a gamble...
Did anyone go to their state fairs?

Looking at your photos makes me want to go to my state fair. Hum, think I need to look up when it is.......
Congrats on the ribbon....they had to pick it for first because the ribbon matches the gown. lolz
Looks like fun but more importantly...what weird food did you eat??!
And believe it or not, PA does NOT have a state fair--only county fairs. Ours is Sept 3rd.
Your Fair Day looks like so much fun! I haven't been to a fair in years. Congratulations on the First Place Finish! Way to go!
I told you you would win! I have a gift no wait, you have a gift.
We didn't go to the WI state fair. No need to get jumped in a riot. Oh and the WI state fair was where some nasty man tried to kidnap Anna when she was about 8. Den saw the entire thing and started screaming. He had Anna by the hand was leading her away. Anna later said the man told her that he was having trouble walking and would she help him. Scary.
