Top O'the Mornin' To Ya!

Yesterday was the annual St. Patrick's Day jaunt around Des Moines with Robb's Bagpipe band.  I think we hit 8 altogether...  At the end of a day like that, the Irish/Scottish tunes start haunting every thought.

Leon got his face painted and primped every chance he got.

He didn't wear a diaper until his afternoon nap in the car with me and kept that one dry until we got home!  What a BIG boy!!!  I'm so proud of his pottying!  Except of course when he has to go back to the potty in the middle of a very crowded pub just to toot into the toilet...  REALLY???  Well, I guess sometimes it's just hard to tell and he didn't want to have an accident!

Meri got into a conversational scuffle at one pub.  She was playing with Leon outside of a tent and a couple walked by saying snidely that "What kind of parent would take a kid to a place like this?"  Meri got offended by this and confronted them.  YEAH!  She said, "Were you just talking about me?  I'm right here!  You can say it to my face!"  So they repeated it to her face.

She responded with "I guess "I"m that kind of parent then!  The kind that brings their kid to an event like this so that he can see his Grandpa play the bagpipes! And I'm not even 21!"

So not only did she say she was Leon's Mom, but that she was underage in a pub...  GREAT....

I am that parent too!

But she didn't want to say, "This isn't even my kid!"  as that would open a whole new can of worms!

What kind of aunt?!...

A loving one, that's what!

Here's another aunt and niece that came along for the pub hop.  The uncle was sitting next to me in the booth.  Leon was kissing his face, but I didn't get that pic in time and Leon wouldn't do it again just for me.

Sabrina & Meri got face painted too and enjoyed the looks they were getting...

At the last one, Meri, Leon and I hung out in the pool room to get out of the pub crazy and he played "pool".

Meri just mostly made faces at me from across the room.

We didn't have a GPS with us so we were a smidge late to a couple of the gigs, but when Meri rode with us, she kept us headed in the right direction with her smart phone.

I'm in need of a chiropractor today, but will wait until after my visit to my folks.

Top o' the Wednesday to ya!  The weekend isn't too far behind!!!

A bagpipe groupie? I don't think I've heard that phrase before :) But I do get the whole scene having toured with Kazi and her highland dancing career for 12 years.

Meri! Good for her.

My boys watched The Quiet Man with me last night. It's my only St. Paddy's Day ritual. ;)

I LOVE her spunk!!! I was 14 when my brother was born and carried him all the time. People said crappy things to me quite a bit. On rare occasion, people got a glimpse of my middle finger. Behind my parents back of course.
