On Sunday, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I attended an aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary all alone. I'm getting used to the solo 2.5 hour drive...
My dad's sister and her husband renewed their wedding vows and celebrated with a huge dinner and dance with a live orchestra.
So cool!
One of my cousins is a big Pinterest fan. She got the idea to display Bonnie's wedding gown as well as lots of other special decor on the tables and in the entrance.
Mom and Dad! It was good to sit with them!
I wrote a memory on a Jenga block of fun times with the two lovebirds. But there was only so much room on the block and we only had a magic marker to write with... I wrote about how they were going to teach me to water ski when we visited their cabin on the lake. I was in the water floating with the skis on and they were JUST about to rev it up, when I thought of the movie Jaws.
GET ME OUT OF HERE!
I think I was in my early teens... I have never learned.
Or the time I was innertubing behind their boat and my thumb caught in the rope. I couldn't remember which sign it was to slow the boat down and so they went faster when I did the thumbs up sign. With my other thumb of course, because one of them was about to pop off...
Or the time I found a snapping turtle on the beach and took it home with me. I put it in a hubcap in the basement and the next morning it was gone. I can only assume it is still alive somewhere terrorizing my old neighborhood because we didn't find a turtle skeleton...
The families usually got together every Christmas Eve VERY late in the evening due to church programs. We'd have oyster stew and chili around 11pm and open presents at midnight. Then the next day, we went back down to Bonnie's and hung out. When we were younger anyway. That tradition stopped eventually.
I got to hold my grand-niece Norah! She is QUITE the dancer!
And I was so surprised she let me hold her.
Cousins, of whom I only know my generation and above. One of my cousins, once removed is attending the college near us! So I got to meet her and maybe we'll have her up sometime.
But maybe that would be weird for her...
What did you do this weekend?

What great memories! I'll never forget the summer I saw Jaws. Water has never held the same appeal to me since.
I went to the grocery this weekend! Such an exciting life! Then, I went back this morning for all the things I forgot.....
