Flashing Kumla

Only AFTER unsuccessfully finding his Batman/Superman cape, Leon finally consented to wearing his Kid Flash costume for Friday's kiddie parade.  He power napped the entire 8 minutes drive there.

During the parade, he waited until the kid ahead was about a half block up, then sprinted as fast as he could, amazing everyone on the curbs.

He shot past the people trying to make the kids turn around and parade back on the other side of the street.

In fact, he went almost a full block past them before he stopped, looked around and realized that no one was down there except his dad who was calling for him to cross the street and go back.

No awards, but then again, we don't really know if Kid Flash is Scandinavian or what.
I think probably not.  Only the kids dressed like Kringla chefs or the local garbage man won.  Next year we'll plan ahead a bit further.

On Saturday, we attended the parade and I got a good burn on one of my arms that will hopefully give me a good deep farmers tan. On.that.one.spot.  The sun was on that side of me...

Meri's band sounded great!

And so many parade entries that were interactive.  Well, if you ask first.

Leon did his official "Throw me some candy" dance and filled up two bags of candy to bring home.  I've hidden them for him.

SEE Jane??!  It DOES work!

They had lots of Daddy/Son bonding time that day.

After the parade, I ran down to my friend who runs the local bistro and was FIRST in line for a bunch of Kumla to take home!

OOH it's good!!!

Not bad for a cook, who is a non-Norwegian.

TONS more happened this weekend that aren't as fun as this.  Well, part is.  But I'm tired and need to get some work done.

I hope your weekend was kumla fantastic!

A whole Norwegian festival without smelly lutekisk! Wonderful. I've not had Kumla-must be different part of Norway than my grandpa came from-or he didn't like it so kept recipe there. Fasy Leon.

Used to attend Norwegian festivals in North Dakota as a kid. Always loved the food!

Not many (any) Norwegian fests in Alabama. Too bad because it looks like fun! The candy dance is fantastic!
