Get your head out of the clouds

Last Sunday Robb, Leon and I went to a church near his sister's house in KC.  Everyone else in the house was exhausted from the graduation day and stayed home in their jams.

We, unwittingly, sat in someone else's seat...  Kids stopped at the end of our pew and looked oddly at us, then waited until their parents directed them to another place to sit.  Our church is like that too.
Um... You're in my spot...  Can you move?!  It's the invisible assigned seating syndrome...

Well, we stayed put.  To keep the boy happy, I had to pace out the little bags of shut the heck up fruit snacks for after each hymn.  I got the sour kind and the bags for them are REALLY crinkly.  Leon lay on his back and fiddled with the bag.  I tried to shush him up but he whispered in a VERY loud whisper, "I'M SORRY, I'M BEING REALLY LOUD!" and kept on crinkling...

During communion, this church kneels.  Ours doesn't.  Since there was nobody else with us to keep an eye on the boy, he went up with us and refused to kneel.  Instead he sat on the back of my legs, successfully pinning me down so I couldn't stand up.  Robb grabbed his arm when we were done and pulled him off of my legs.  Unfortunately it was the same arm with the recently mostly emptied communion cup and a teensy bit dribbled on Leon's arm.

"HEY!!!  You got BLOOD on my arm!!"

At least he's been SORT of listening... :)

We got back to Cathy's and I made a bunch of sandwiches for the road from the remains of the party food.  AND she gave me a LOT more leftovers on top of that.  For fear that the potato salad would spoil, most of that got eaten before the state line. :)  I love pickle-y potato salad!

We dropped off Leon at his mom's on the way, then headed home.  JUST in time to get the dogs from the kennel and still get in a visit at my bestie's.

That night, FINALLY, we got a chance to sit down to relax, not drive anywhere.  And we got a chance to Skype with Maddy!  YAY!  She had bought a hammock and set it up while we talked.  I don't know where she'll set it up on campus...

Today is her last day in Colorado and she's heading back to the Minnesota tomorrow.
Even though she'll still be three hours away, it'll be good to know she's within easier driving distance!

Can't wait to see her again in person.

For her last day at her internship, she and the other intern are hosting another water fun splash day for the kids of the church there.  They had so much fun at the first one, that they scheduled another.

No more high altitudes to amaze visitors with and impress her mountain climbing, kayaking, rock climbing, danger thrill seeking, uncle.

But more realistic altitudes where food grows...

And of course more cattle.  Even more fake cattle.

Welcome Almost Home Hon!!!

Oh I remember those fun times at church crinkle crinkle! Looks like Maddy had a wonderful summer - I hope she stays lower down for awhile.
