Getting Wrinkles

We're getting our Thanksgiving plans all patched up now.  As usual, it'll need more patches as we get closer.

This weekend, I'm planning on doing a TON Of sewing.  I had absolutely nothing else planned for it before yesterday.  A dear old friend, who I met when I was on maternity leave with Ryan (25 years ago), and lived just across the alley behind us gave me a call.   We haven't hung out together for SO long!  We used to push our kids around our small town in strollers together and called ourselves the "Baby Brigade."  She can be kind of crazy and reminds me of Sonya Ann just a little.

Ok - probably more than a little.

When Robb and I were looking for a house to move into after our apartment, she told us that if we moved to the next town where we worked, she'd never talk to me again.  I was pretty upset about it and not because of that threat we bought a house still in our small town.

Then later to another house still in our small town.

Several years later, she and her hubs built one in the next town...

Really?...

So I hardly ever talk to her, but that's mainly because she and I work all the time and our kids were growing up and involved in everything.  If you have teenagers, you're constantly on the go to one event or the other.  They're down to one at home now.
So are we, if you don't count Ryan, Leon and my MIL.
and the dogs.

But still not much time for just goofing off with a friend.

So anyway, she called!  She actually called Monday morning when Leon and I were watching the Hobbit and wanted me to run do some shopping with her.  Um... if I'm not watching Leon, I have to work...  But that didn't deter her.  She called again yesterday to see if I could go to a movie with her this weekend.

Not sure what we'll see but any time spent with her will be a boost to my mood and I'm pretty sure I'll gain a few more laugh lines just this weekend alone.

In the last few years I reconnected with several friends that we lost touch over the years due to different stages of life, schedules, jobs, but so grateful we have refound time. It still isn't that often, but I feel like a younger and full of life when we hang out.

It's so nice to reconnect, isn't it? But, you need to retire, like me, so you have more time for meet ups! Hee hee. There's just never an end to things that need to be done, is there. I hope you have a whale of a time and get lots of new wrinkles :)
