The cold wind changed directions and it was downright frigid over the weekend.
Friday night, I whipped up a batch of cookie dough and Robb/Meri baked them while I worked frantically on Dad's hand print quilt. I had a sewing meeting to attend on Saturday and I wanted to show it to them. Sorry - no pics yet outside of what I've taken of the pieces. I will when it's done. A few ladies gave me contacts to do the long arm quilt stitching for me. I need to find a FAST one.
Stayed and had lunch with some women on the board, then headed home. I think it's the last board meeting I'll be attending in a while. I'm giving up the newsletter position and this next issue is my last.
Got here just in time to see a friend of ours from college, who was on his way to Minnesota from Colorado to see his dad. This guy was the roommate of a former boyfriend of mine. But he was also good friends with Robb. Those D&D guys are all pretty tight.
He's actually the one that broke Robb's collar bone a week after we started dating... They were goofing around in the snow on campus and Carl's shin is pretty tough.
Robb's collar bone?... not so much.
Now that I was caught up on my quilt tops for the moment and didn't want to work on a prom dress, I spent the rest of the evening just relaxing and hanging out with Robb. We got caught up on our Walking Dead episode from LAST weekend and I had a chance to read a bit more on my Tana French book. I realized that wow... she puts a LOT of swear words in her books... I'd been glossing over them until I read a segment for Robb out loud. Oops! The story lines are intriguing and the book is getting to a very interesting part where I gasped a few times, and not because of the language.
Twists and turns galore.
Sunday after church, we took Meri out to lunch at the HuHot. It's not very often she has a Sunday off from work, so we put her to work afterwards and we shopped til my feet hurt. Well, way past that actually... We didn't get home and the groceries put away until almost 3. But Thanksgiving is IN the bag! and cupboard... and fridge... and garage fridge... and freezers... and back hall... I relaxed for all of 20 minutes before we went to see my bestie at the home. I took along three mini Christmas Thanksgiving trees for her to have around her room. Then Robb went to pick up the boy and I went home to make use of the Rug Doctor I'd rented. The carpet looks FANTASTIC now!
It better stay that way until AFTER the holidays...

When they came in the front door, he got his second wind and was a complete pistol all evening.
I covered the carpet with old sheets and hung out with the boy. Even got to Skype with Maddy!
So even though it blew past, it was a good one. What did you do?

Had a lunch date with the Hubs, he bought some beer and the grocery store in that town gave me a free ham and the amount it cost in cash. Huh?? I still don't understand how they figured that one out like that but hey!, $28.64 worth of stuff and cash for me so I am not complaining, just still scratching my head..... You've got to love math school dropouts.
What is the title of the book you are reading? I enjoy a good book :-) Even though my to read list is a mile long don't want to miss any, lol. I'm recovering from Kathleen's sleepover party.... except there was no sleep! LOL

Another whirlwind, albeit cold one this time! I hope you get a long arm quilter who can work you in. There's always a wait around the holidays around these parts. Can't wait to see it. We worked in the yard some on Saturday. Spent yesterday cooking for the church Thanksgiving dinner. I'm spending the next two days getting the house ready for Thanksgiving here on Wednesday with our kids. Then Thursday it's Mama and Daddy's turn. ;) I have lots of sewing to do and lots of shopping to do. It would help if I could decide what to sew and what to buy. Arg.
We spent a whirlwind weekend in Pittsburgh visiting my best friend from college whom I haven't seen in real life in 7 years as she lives in Singapore. It was crazy busy but so good for the soul.Looking forward to seeing your completed quilt! Have a great Thanksgiving!
We have the firsts of our family here. Life is good and the granddaughter is a delight!
