On Thursday afternoon, I got a call from one of my sister-in-laws. She asked if I knew of their plans for that weekend. Well, I DID... but she mentioned that they were on their way that afternoon.
oh! THAT I hadn't heard... Well, the place was a mess. Oh well. She gets me.
They had to make a stop to see a bil before us and decided to stay there that night instead.
No problem. I still didn't take the time to pick up. I'd warned her.
So Friday night, they and their kids all showed up at the house and they had a family reunion of sorts. LOTS of laughter and dogs getting excited.
Meri performed in a parade that day, but I'd had to miss it. She came home and joined in the fun for a bit too but then had to hit the hay.
I DID go see her perform early on Saturday morning though in a town just over an hour away. I made it in 1.5 hours, because who knew that highway would angle that direction??? I'm sure the GPS would have known or Google maps or anyone I that I could call, but I didn't have those assets handy at the time and didn't think to call anyone. So I added a solid fifteen minutes to the drive and got to the high school in the NICK of time to see her first performance. I've got recordings and will post them eventually on FB.
She was singing again at 9:45, so she and I got her some breakfast, then I stuck around but had to rush out as soon as they were done with the girls choir.
Had to get to a remote town that I'd never heard of until we got the bridal shower invitation, by 11. I called my bil and he walked me through how to get there. Was a few minutes late, but no one seemed to care. Whew!
The niece in the middle is getting married one week after Maddy in June! She's with her siblings in this pic. Looking back now, I'm thinking the head table should NOT have been in front of the restroom and kitchen... Oh well.
It was a lot of fun and Maddy, Sarah loved her apron from you!
We had embroidered her soon to be married name onto it.
Then we headed back home with all of her haul. Sat on the patio with another sil and watched Sarah's family try to determine how to fit all this stuff into Sarah's car. SUCH a beautiful day!!
I didn't turn on my sewing machine even once this weekend. I felt like such a slacker...

Looks like a fun fills and busy weekend!
You are so good to go with the flow. I'd love impromptu sister gatherings, but I still am not good with the drop ins due to home fear.
Fun! Backdrops are super important!
