Fair Number of Them!

So Christine and I hit the fair last night.  Free entry to see what ribbons the ladies and I got for our years worth of sewing.

In years past, I remember parking close to the building, but yikes.  We had to hike a long bit to get there.  I think I may have been blocking the previous years hikes.

Keep in mind that a lot of items don't get a ribbon, so I was PLEASANTLY surprised at a few of them that did!

Here are my entries that placed with a ribbon.

Norah's flower girl dress got 3rd place!

I was shocked on this one!  The lighter blue sweater with the cowl neck in the middle is mine and has the pale blue Honorable Mention!  I sewed this up at the last minute and accidentally sewed the cowl neck on backwards.  Since it was serged on, it was just easier to cut it off and flip it around.  So the neck line is bigger than it should have been.  But it is so comfy!  I can't wait to read the comments.

Then my Mother-of-bride dress.  And as usual, they put the jacket on backwards..  REALLY?  The front had the darts!!!  Maybe they think my back shoulder blades are really pointy...  BUT I got an Honorable Mention on it!

Then I got 2nd place on my tunic that I had done a fussy cut out of a silky pashmina.  I've worn that a lot since making it and feel like my wardrobe has a hole in it while it's at the fair.

And last but not least, Maddy's wedding dress got an Honorable Mention!!

I'm SO glad I re-serged the hem!!!

The other five items didn't place and on a couple of them, I'm not surprised.  But I WAS surprised that Meri's prom dress hadn't gotten anything.  So was she.  But that's ok.  It is still a beautiful dress.
It's possible that it just didn't have the hanger appeal, especially without the poofy crinoline.

Now to wait until we pick them up to find out the comments...

Oh!  and Meri is singing at the fair this afternoon AND tomorrow morning AND Saturday!
She's a busy girl!

Congratulations on your ribbons. I also think the prom dress is fantastic. Next time sew the crinoline in so it is part of the dress construction!
I hope the singing goes well. She has a beautiful voice so I am positive it will!
Happy Fair Week!

Congratulations! No matter what the ribbon awarders say, the pro dress is stunning! I used to think I would try entering in the open entry event at the fair, but for jam or baking. I never followed through. Good for you for doing so.
