Spookin' It REAL Good!

Robb and I went on a date on Friday night!!!  We attended a spooky story telling gig in a nearby town.  A couple of the story tellers were familiar, but no one we actually knew.  It was fun and a way to get some REALLY salty popcorn, which is ALWAYS good.
I gained four pounds this weekend JUST from water weight...

On Saturday, I sewed.  And finished the Princess Leia dress the best I could without Meri there to measure for the length again.  That fabric is really stretchy and when I measured Meri on Friday for it, by Saturday, after hanging it up, I estimated that Meri was 7.5 feet tall.  Judging from how it hung...

I also fixed Leon's Luke Skywalker boots.  The velcro wasn't attaching behind his shoes.
In the end, I was really happy with how they turned out.

Mid afternoon, Robb and I headed to Des Moines for a Reformation Rally where I was singing in the choir.  We got there a little late and I ran up to practice the last two songs with them.  We sang three songs during the service.

One of the songs was extremely difficult for the choir.  The congregation sang parts and then the choir sang the bits in between.  On the third verse, every single person of the 30 person choir started on a different note.  The director appeared disgusted and made us stop and start that verse over... in front of the congregation...  I would have been embarrassed but I wasn't the only one up there.  You can just smile and then get it right.  We did then.
That has never happened to me before. :)

The church provided a meal for everyone afterwards and we sat with some friends from our church.  They're big ISU fans and Iowa State U was in the middle of a big football game.  So Seth went out to his car and brought in a radio and had it blasting in the middle of our table.  Luckily it was pretty noisy in there with all the people talking, so it wasn't TOO noticeable.  I asked the young lady sitting next to me if she was an ISU sports fan.  She said, "yeah... but not a bring a radio into church kind of fan..."  LOL

Robb and I headed back after dinner and then went to Meri's Haunted High School.. OOoooOHHHH..  She'd spent every spare minute and most of our money helping her National Honor Society group put it together.

It was a LONG wait to get in as every single person from all the surrounding towns decided to go.  Robb was either horrified or amused by some middle school boys who were ahead of us in line.  I wasn't sure.  They talked non-stop about their little game toys and sports figures and were constantly losing their place in line from not paying attention.  But suddenly a couple girls joined the mix and the game systems found a pocket and they were all about the GIRLS!!!!

Must have reminded Robb of his youth.

As we walked/crawled through the old haunted gymnasium, I got spooked quite a few times and then just laughed at some of the antics and scenes.  Meri had a friend in our dog's kennel grabbing out at people.  I hope she cleaned it up a little.  I think one of the dogs had vomited in it a couple days ago...  In the end, a young man dressed as Jason from Friday the 13th, jumped out from behind a door and freaked me out just a bit.  I did scream.  Then gave him a left handed high five.

Hey!  That's our old futon!!

He doesn't get to come to our house anymore.  A lot of those kids were pretty creepy and may not get invited back...  Eh - I'm sure I'll get over it.

More tomorrow on the Living History Farms adventure...  Here is sneak peak.

Y'all had quite a packed weekend! Gotta love school haunted houses. The kids have such a good time doing them! Too bad about all the rescinded invitations!
