Leon's class Halloween party was yesterday!
Ryan was sick, but Meri and I showed up as helpers.
The kids then parade around the school to show off their costumes and see everyone else's.
So much fun! and so much creativity!
On the way home afterwards, I had the leftover cookies in the front seat and heard this from the back,
"The BOO's is all MINE!"
a boy after Sonya and Sluggy's own heart!
photo for clarification purposes.
Leon came home from school last week spouting, "I need to be at duki shan dojo at 5:25!"
(Not the real name of the dojo.)
Apparently a girl on the bus told him that he could learn karate there. hmmm.. Well, last week didn't work out and it took longer than 5:25 to figure out just what he was talking about.
Even when we made him repeat it 10 times.
SO, even though it was Halloween yesterday, we took him to get signed up.
As you can tell ALL the other kids were trick or treating that night except for the one on the right. That boy did it the night before in our town.
Leon had a blast! We even practiced what he learned at the corner this morning while we waited for the bus. There's a LOT of discipline in this art and it's going to be so good for him.
It really brought back the day for Meri and I. Although we just sat and watched. My toes, knees, hips and energy can't do that stuff anymore.
As soon as class got over, Leon and I headed over to the nursing home to see Ada. She and her husband were hiding out in her room watching tv. ALL the other residents were out in the hallways handing out candy to the hordes of children that were parading through with their families. Leon dressed quick in her bathroom and we trick or treated around the the residents.
His bucket was 1/3rd of the way full by the time we left. Oh and they gave out hotdogs and lemonade. PERFECT! A little substance (if you can call it that) before the mad rush of sugar.
Then we went over to a dear friend's house where her daughter was having a party of her own with friends that are too old to trick or treat. And let me just say, You're NEVER too old...
We used her house as the base and went ALL over her neighborhood. Leon's bucket was almost full but he was determined to fill it up and we had a melt down 3 houses from being completely done.
And the meltdown was my cue that we were done. I hooked his bucket on my arm and carried him back to the car. As he looked over my shoulder at one of the 3 remaining houses, he said, "That one looks like it's open!!!" "When we get home, can you fill up my bucket to make me feel better?"
Holy cow kid. That would be when pigs fly...
So that is the end of our Halloween fracases. I know someone said yesterday, 2 nights in a row? Well, yeah. It's this town and that town, then all the special downtown businesses or Living History Farms.
Gotta stock up that candy to last until Christmas! or at least next weekend.

Sounds like a perfect Halloween, meltdown and all.
