I SEW love three day weekends!

What a weekend!!!  Robb is working on a big project at work so he was gone for a good chunk on Friday, Saturday and Monday, so I filled in my time and then some with sewing.

This will not make the cut for the cruise...  Too dark, don't you think?

I finished three tops and a pair of shorts.  The shorts took a while as they had a zipper and a button hole.  It usually takes 3-6 weeks for me to attempt button holes, but since I'm pressed for time, I agonized about it for a serious ten minutes before I dove in.

The cruise is in about 2 weeks and I'm hoping the Bahamas is put back together sufficiently for it!  I feel terrible for the problems people in the Bahamas and Florida are going through.  Cripes...  I can't even imagine!

This may or may not make the cut.  Kind of blah.

But as a co-worker in California once told me...  "Earthquakes are nothing, what I'm scared of is if I lived in the midwest and got tornados all the time!"  I just shrugged and said, "Eh - it's no big deal."  I'm sure that's how they feel there for earthquakes and how Floridians feel about hurricanes.

Except for Dorian.
Stupid Dorian.

Anyway.  I've got a pair of leggings to make today in my spare time and another top or two to make as I can.

I'm liking the back pocket and how well it lines up with the pattern.  No one will see my cell phone in my pocket at all!

Especially if I wear this top with it!  It matches the shorts really well.

After each top is completed, I wear it for a while and see if it looks ok in public and if it's cruise worthy.  I wore that blue cold shoulder shirt for a while the other day and when I took it off that night, I found a safety pin stuck on the back of a sleeve...  It was there to remind me which side was the right side.

no.one.said.a.word...

My family either didn't notice it or are just used to crazy things like that from me.  I had lunch with Leon that day (he asked me to come) and I'm sure the teachers there are aware of my idiosyncrasies.  I probably could have gone in there pants-less.

... I'm sure they would have said something then!

One would hope.

My diet had plateaued a bit.  The two brownies from Jen's batch on Monday didn't help...  Because of that, I was 7 calories PAST my limit for the day.  Plus I didn't add in all the taste testing while I made supper.  Lots of good stuff!
Since then I've dropped some more and I'm doing ok!

So back on the wagon yesterday and today.  I'm determined to stay away from sweets, except for my yogurt because it's not a terrible snack and it's so much less sugar than store bought.

OH!!!  I took Leon to an outdoor movie in the park in a nearby town on Friday night.  They were showing the Goonies.  He and I have seen it several times and he wasn't too keen to go but I bribed him with the free popcorn.  He chose a spot towards the back of the people and I felt like our backs were too exposed but eventually the spots around us filled in and my fear of getting shanked lessened.

He enjoyed the Goonie trivia at the beginning and can now answer any question you ask about the Goonies because we saw the questions and answers about 20 times before the movie started.  (directed by Richard Donner)

Jen and Ryan had cooked him a frozen pizza before we went, so we brought it along in a tub and he snacked on that throughout the movie.  He got super tired about 20 minutes from the end and asked if we could go.  We made it home by 10pm.  Long day!

Then last night, I took the boy out for ice cream at the local Caseys and we browsed around ye ol' ball diamond near our house.  I threw a fake pitch and Leon hit a fake home run and ran around all the bases.  Then he pitched a fake one to me and I fake hit a home run and fake ran around all the bases with the fake crowds going wild!

Anyway, it was a nice long weekend!  And I'm determined to make more outfits that may or may not make the cut for the cruise.  Time is running out!

I am a fan of dark colors so I always think they are great. An outdoor movie sounds like fun. We never have that around here!

I don't think the pink was too plain once you get it on. The other didn't seems to dark with the light pattern. I don't blame you not wanting to get shanked. I am a button master. Zippers always made me sweat.

Look at all that sewing! You are going to be styling! I figured out I can't enter the state fair with sewing projects as amateur because I sewed children't clothing, etc, for a store in town. I'm a professional! Ha. Right.

The safety pin. Ethan and I went on our traditional morning doughnut run while at the beach. When I got back to the house, I felt something rubbing my arm while I was sitting. I looked down and realized I had worn my shirt wrong side out while out in public. My son was with the me whole time, even standing behind me in line. Could you not see the writing on the shirt with the size, etc? I didn't notice he says. I was mortified since half the beach was in both Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme. Boys.

Ethan and I both saw The Goonies for the first time a few months ago. ;) Sounds like a great way to spend a summer evening.
