Worst meal I ever cooked...

This is an entry to the Worse meal I ever cooked contest that http://fabfoodfriday.com/ is hosting.

The worst meal I ever made, I was cleaning out the cupboards one late afternoon and was determined to use up some of these things we find in our cupboards and wonder why we even bought it...

That day I found some canned whitefish that I had given my husband as a joke several years before. (from the movie Johnny Dangerously) So I heated that up. In the freezer I found some ground lamb meat, thawed it and with a recipe I found made some lamb burgers. I thought they tasted tasty... Then made a few other vegetable sides to with these items.

I called my husband who was on his way home that there was a surprise for supper... meaning the whitefish...

He got home and supper was just getting on the table. We all sat around the table, folded our hands, bowed our heads, but Robb didn't start the prayer like he usually does. I looked up after a few awkward moments and Robb didn't look too happy... I asked him, Aren't you going to say the prayer?

His response was... I don't believe I have anything to be thankful for with this meal.

At which point, he thought he'd said the funniest line ever and started laughing, pulling the kids into laughing too. I wasn't amused. If this were one of the kids, I would've had him go sit on the steps until he was hungry.

Apparently he hates fish of any kind, except cod and he hates hates hates lamb. So this one even topped the last really bad meal where I served crunchy rice.

He hates lamb? We love lamb at our house. Perhaps his previous experience was with mutton? Lamb has a sweet taste. Mutton has a strong taste. We especially love meatloaf made from ground lamb. The first time my grandson ate lamb meatloaf, using the old Quaker Oats recipe subbing lamb for beef, he was hooked for life.

I think it was the ground lamb that he didn't like. As a child his mom would substitute ground turkey in the sauces and let the kids think they were eating ground beef. He thinks it's bland and can't stand it.
I don't know why he doesn't like it either. Weird. He's pretty opinionated when it comes to food he doesn't like.
We're mostly a beef, pork, chicken & turkey(not ground turkey) family.
