On Saturday morning, I had the girls bring down and up ALL their clothes to the livingroom. And I mean ALL. I even pulled the winter things out of my closet for them. Then we sorted them into piles: tank tops, short sleeves, long sleeved, sweatshirt, sweater, jacket, you get the idea.
Once sorted, I had the girls start trying things on. They're almost at the point where they can wear some of the same clothes, which is handy! So they had a blast trying on all these clothes that they would never have tried on before. We swapped a few things so now each girl feels like they've got a whole new wardrobe and everything fits now.
We also pulled out 3 bags of clothes for cousins and 3 bags of clothes that are not in any condition to be worn again. I think I'll do some remodeling on them this winter and make new things out of them.
Then of course the bag of clothes that they can't bear to part with for sentimental reasons even tho there's no WAY they'd wear them again, but they want to save for their children some day. My kids think ahead... sometimes...
So now, we've got a good list of what needs to be purchased for school (not an incredible lot at all!) and what I'll need to work on sewing wise for the fall.
This could be fun!

That's awesome! Shopping at home and spending NO money! Love it! I always wanted some of my sis's clothes. :) Usually I stole em.
Me too! I have 2 sisters that were the same size as me and a bit older. My wardrobe was fabulous! Then they both got married within a month of each other and took all their clothes...
Love it...and glad they seemed to enjoy it too. Hopefully this will last forever! I love it now that my mom and I can still wear each others clothes...and she has impeccable taste so it works out great.
Ahhhh.....wish I had a sewing bone in my body. My kids just get what they get. Or what I can find on sale..cause shopping for kids clothes, should be some ring of hell.
I have so many sentimental saves of clothes that Bug wore. I wish I could sew...I don't think I have that gene.
What a great project, and how wonderful that there isn't much to buy! I have a small stack of clothes that I want to repurpose...now I just have to find the time :)
what a good exercise. i should really have the courage to do that...
