Weekend & Chick Flick Review...

We drove to Kansas City on Friday night and spent a day or so with my SIL and her family. Cathy is a fabulous cook, so I gained about 5 lbs in the 24 hours or so that we were there...

Friday night - fresh out of the oven brownies, topped with ice cream and caramel sauce. YUM!

Saturday breakfast - poached eggs, bacon & toast with homemade iced latte.
Saturday lunch - sandwiches - not your ordinary kind... special! with grape salad & pasta salad.
Saturday supper - steaks, baked potato, salad, french bread & for dessert, Rhubarb pie, because my hubby loves that!

We left for home around 7:45 or so and I'm surprised Robb nor I fell asleep on the way home after being as stuffed as we were! The girls fell asleep after 2.5 episodes of Psych.

On Saturday morning, we had decided to take advantage of the cheaper movie rates, so Robb took the two younger girls to see the movie Shorts. I'd never heard of it.

Cathy, my MIL, Maddy & me went to see The Time Traveler's Wife.

I didn't realize that this movie was going to require me to be a gymnast while watching it. I had to balance the extra buttered and salted popcorn on my knee, while gripping my water in one hand and covering my 14 year olds eyes during a sex scene...

I also didn't realize that I would need to wipe my eyes extensively with the buttery & salty napkins from about half-way thru to the end...

It was a very good movie, but as we were walking out, I had to smack Cathy on the arm and tell her, "That movie really sucked!" None of us had any eye makeup on when it was over, I guess except Maddy. She was trying really hard not to because she didn't want to cry her contacts out in a darkened theatre.

After lunch, Cathy pulled out her foot water massager contraption and all her foot pedicure stuff. Each of us took turns being pampered and the 8 & 9 year olds painted our toenails.

Robb wouldn't do it. hmmmm.... I guess he doesn't like to feel pampered.

On Sunday, after church, Meri and I moved my antiquey things into our new booth at the local antique mall!!! Yes, I am an antique hound... Or packrat, as my husband calls it. And with any luck, may get a car in our garage by Christmastime! I used to sell these things on Ebay, but that was SOOOO time consuming and I just don't have that kind of time anymore. So she and I are prettifying this little booth and will do our best to turn a profit! We still need to move a few more shelves, Christmas lights and boxes of stuff into it. Looks pretty slim next to the others surrounding it. Wish us luck!

And how was your weekend?

Sounds like a wonderful time in spite of the tears. Hope you turn a profit.

Isn't it great to have a good cook in the family?

I read the book. I didn't like it much. My daughter saw it with her husband and told me about it. Sounds even more confusing than the book. I think I'm going to skip it. Oh, and you putting your hands over your 14-year-old's eyes reminded me of the time my mom took me to see "A Star is Born". I was 13. I was so embarassed. Guess she was too. I think the movie poster should have given her a clue...One of my favorite albums of all time though.

I wish I had the motivation to clean out the stuff. I wish my stuff was worth something. Ha!

It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I would love to be pampered like that. Hell, I would just like to get along with my SIL. She is not wonderful like yours. Thanks for sharing!

Ohh everything sounds yummy. Isn't it nice to be pampered? And I'm just talking about the food. So glad that you didn't give anything away about the movie, I'm trying to talk DH into taking me for my b-day this weekend.

Enjoy!

Wow, you had an awesome couple of days! I'd love to join just for the food alone. Yummy.

Good luck with the antique booth- sounds like a fun way to make some extra bucks and clean out the garage at the same time.
