Making a duffle bag

I had mentioned making a duffle bag for some of my Christmas presents this year and had several comments asking what the instructions were. Well... I happened upon the book over my lunch break today, so here you go. This is from the book, The Art of Sewing/The Sporting Scene. It's a Time Life book from 1975, so yes, it is orange and this is the only item from this book that is relevant to me. As I don't play tennis or ski...

Good luck with your sewing! Oh! and one word of advice... Don't make the size large, as it is enormous!

Uhhhh.....you completely lost me. But it looks awesome! For those who are sewingly gifted. If that's a word. :)

How on earth do you have a book from 1975??? That actually amazes me more than the fact that you can sew something so useful. I can sew a button on if it doesn't have to last through the laundry :)

Hi, Thank you so much for your comment. I am not too happy about winter but it is sure fun to photograph. This morning it was 35 now it is 25. Suppost to be even colder tomorrow. Your sewing is wonderful. Amazing job. I can only sew a button on and maybe stich up a stuffed animal. You are very very talented.

My son has this insanely huge bag that we purchased from LLBean to hold all his juggling props. He can literally fit in it...I'm betting this bag would not be too large by his standards ;-)

I am amazed at how you can just whip these things up!

This is great. When my children are older (I have ages 4, almost 3 and 1) I will try to sew like this. Night now, hemming and sewing simple covers and pillows are about all i can manage. I've been browsing around your blog (you were above me in the comment section of another blog) and have really enjoyed it. Look forward to more of your sewing projects! :)
