Hi all! The kids are getting better and are eating solid foods today. My husband asked me, "For a sewing blog, you don't post much about sewing..." Hmmm.. Guess not! Life comes at you in a rush. As you know my sewing room is now a sewing hall. It's awkward... But I did get things out this past weekend and am sewing on the girls Easter dresses.
For Meri's, I've done a muslin, well kind of... I've made a sample dress out of some fabric that I knew I would never use, just to get the sizing right. I plan to do the same thing for Maddy's as soon as I can pin her down to measure her...
The one on the right is Meri's. The fabric is below and I got it for free from my American Sewing Guild group. I bought some lining for it that matches and a side zipper. The sleeves will have to be adjusted, but really the size I decided on is fitting her well. The blue and white contrasting one is the dress that Maddy picked out. It is strapless, but we're going to either make or purchase a shrug to wear with it. This is also our first attempt on a future prom dress for her. It takes covered boning strips in the bodice. The bodice will be the blue/black/white fabric below with black for the skirt and waist. See what I mean? It will definitely take measurements or will fall off her...Oh! Tomorrow I get to meet one of my bloggy buddies in person!!! Yay! Also tomorrow is my day on SITS! Enjoy your St. Patrick's Day week!

Glad everyone is starting to feel better. When do you leave for your trip?
Uh....blahblahblah....I don't understand sewing speak. But I LOVE those patterns. :)
Hey lady!
I gave you an award....go pick it up.

Jealous of your talent, but still have no desire to sew.
Those are going to be beautiful dresses! I so wish I had the time/energy/motivation/skill to sew . . .
(And I love your "sewing" blog. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have nearly as much to comment about if it were all about sewing).
I LOVE your sewing blog! :-) Those dresses are both really pretty. The style is similar to some I wore in high school! OMG! I have been around long enough to see my high school fashions come back into style.
I used to love to sew. Now, I kinda miss it.
Your husband is very observant :D
Yay on your SITS day tomorrow!!
If Anna sees what you are going to make, she will want you to adopt her. And you are more than welcome too and take the college bill too!
Love seeing sewing plans. I almost forgot you had a sewing blog! ;)
My mom made me a dress similar to Meri's when I was her age too. Funny how some things come back into style.
How fun and creative!! Happy SITS day! :)
Woohoo, congrats and happy SITS day. I love it when I see a "bloggy" friend I already love listed at Sits!
Congrats on your SITS feature!! I look forward to reading your site!
I guess I came by to early,lol.
Happy SITS Day....I will come over tomorrow as well to check out your post.
Congratulations on being the featured blogger today. I love the strapless dress and I cannot sew a lick. Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Looks like I'm a bit early to read your SITS day post but happy SITS day anyway! How exciting.
Funny... our blogs sound somewhat alike. Mine started out as a sewing blog but turned into much more than that. I'd love to have you visit!
Well, you are already on there as the SITS girl. Congrats.

I'd love to see them after you make them! Congrats on your SITS Day!
Congratulations on your SITS day!
It's great to have a seamstress in the family, your girls are very lucky. I totally took my Mom's sewing skills for granted. Unfortunately, she did not pass them on to me.

Ooooh I love the fabric for that second dress - the stripes are gorgeous. I can't wait to see this one when it's done!
I wish I could sew well. I would love to make my daughter dresses! I love the pretty fabrics you are using. Congrats on your SITS day. Have a good one!
Stopping by from SITS!!
Happy SITS Feature Day.
My mom's a seamstress. She made my prom dresses and she just finished my wedding dress. Glad you can do the same for your daughters!!
I love the fabrics you chose.
Happy SITS day!
i'm very envious of your sewing ability...i have pipe dreams of making my own clothes, but sadly all i can muster are napkins!
congrats on your sits day
Stopping by to wish you a happy SITS day! Will drop back by when your SITS Day post is up :)
Happy SITS day to yooou!
This SOOO made me think of my mom. She LOVED to sew and would sew dresses for me whenever given the opportunity.
Hope you enjoy your SITS day!
Congrats on your day! :)
People that can sew clothes always impress me. Happy Sits day!
Stopping by from SITS...guess I'm a little early, but don't mind reading about sewing. I need to get my machine set back up and do some sewing myself. Have a great SITS day!
Gorgeous patterns :) Happy SITS Day!
Stopping by from SITS!
One day I hope to be as talented as you are! I'm just starting my journey into sewing--pillow cases here I come! :)
Happy SITS day.
I like to sew but my end results never look like the pictures on the pattern packages. :-)

Hi stopping by from SITS. Oh I love sewing, so sad I hardly have the time for it now with an active toddler running around.
Happy sewing... and blogging
Cool!
Happy SITS day! Looks like you have some good projects ahead. My mom tried to teach me to sew, but all my dresses looked like sacks. :) You don't seem to have that problem! I checked out a few of your other posts and saw a gorgeous confirmation dress. Happy Sewing to you!
Have a great, great SITS day!!!
Enjoy it!
I admire anyone who can sew! My mom is extremely talented but that gene didn't get passed to me.
And ps - hedgehogs? I'm an *huge* fan of all animals (my blog is about them). But I've never known anyone who actually keeps them. Interesting.
Happy SITS day!
Writing about sewing dresses for your girls brought back fond memories of my mom making clothes for me! Then my grandma made a quilt of all the bits and pieces of everyone's outfits. I still use it every night and will see a little square and think - hey! That was my shirt in third grade! :o)
enjoy your special day :-)
Happy SITS day, enjoy! I am a mad sewer too, and I know how frustrating it can get trying to work it around the kids.
Wow, I'm impressed. Sewing clothes scares me. All those curved lines and things. Me, I'm a fan of straight lines. Kudos to you! And happy SITS day to you as well!
Happy SITS day! Hope you have a fun one!
Happy SITS day to you !!!!!!!!
Happy SITS Day!!!
And I so wish I could follow a pattern.
This post makes me happy and I haven't even read it yet. I love patterns and feel lucky that my mom taught me the language so that I can read them! I know so many people who sew and are super crafty, but they can't read a pattern.
That top pattern gave me the motivation I needed to get my Easter dress cutout.

P.S. Stopping by from SITS.
Always glad to talk about sewing!! I have a sewing blog too.
Isn't SITS great for finding people with common interests?!!
I wish I could sew....I don't even know where to start learning and it's such a fundamental skill to learn!
My attempst at sewing extend to button replacing and sewing up small tears. I wish I had the talent and patience for grander projects! I'm envious of your skill!
I really like the patterns and I hope your kids feel better soon!
Wow, you're a good writer and make beautiful things. I could hate you! Great blog and yes, the puking in the car is one of the worst "mommy" moments there is.
Congrats on the SITS feature! I'm a sewing lover too:)
I love the dress choices the girls made and that blue, black and white fabric will look really nice with the dress!
How awesome! I can't make my boys Easter dresses. Darn. ;) I can't wait to see them finished!
I'm working on quilt right now. It so fun to be sewing something again. It's been months since I worked on a project.
I would so abuse our friendship if we were friends. I would force you to make me pretty dresses every week!
Happy SITS DAY!!!
ha! love what your husband said!
I love that top pattern...if only I could not mess up my sewing machine each time a take it out!
Hi.. I enjoy your blog and share you sewing hobby. When I was pregnant with my first child and had lots more time (b.k. before kids), I was able to sew lots of maternity clothes. Then when my daughter was a pre-teen it was fun to teach her to sew.
