Ready to start counting? Ok - here we go..
2006 - preparing for the county fair. Ryan found the salsa recipe that he wanted to make. Worked hard at the prep work, cooking and canning. By the way, it was wicked delicious! Smokey flavor and spicy hot. He made a few jars and the leftovers went to us! It lasted perhaps 1.5 days...The little jars of salsa looked pretty plain, so Ryan decided to make a label. I had super sized computer labels that I used for my old Ebay business at the time, so we did a photo shoot. He found our sombrero and a poncho that we bought in Nagales, Mexico.
When we walked thru Nagales several years ago, we were actually looking for ponchos. One vendor told us that his one armed blind grandmother knitted this one... um yeah... The story was SO creative that we bought 3, one for each of the kids.
Sorry for the off topic... I need to make this stretch. How we doing so far? dang - 179 words so far...
Anyway - back to the story. Ryan downloaded his photos and created his labels.
I recall he got a blue ribbon. They didn't even open the jar! They were mainly concerned about the processes of canning and what he learned from the whole experience. The contents of that jar didn't last much longer after the fair was over... Perhaps 10 minutes.

Well at least it won BLUE. And he was a great sport to do the zoolander pose.
That is sooo funny! Tell him he should be a model!
I would have loved to see a jar with this label ON it. How creative!
LOL!
Also, I'm with Frances. We need a picture of the jar with the picture on it. We're picky.
