Further adventures of Mel & Connie

My dad stayed over last night on his way to Indiana. He got here early enough to visit and we brought my son over after Bible study so he could see his Grandpa too for a while. Dad had to leave at 4am this morning.

So anyway, last night he regaled us with an adventure he and Mom had yesterday before he left for here. One of my sisters has been helping them get a bunch of papers together for them to deliver to their lawyer.

Long story... I won't go there...

But my sister has been agonizing because my parents had lost some important papers and it took a long time for all the papers to come together at the same time for this event.

So...

It was an extremely windy day. The wind blew the trees sideways and buffeted the car on the way.

My dad had the papers all neatly tucked in a folder. They pulled up to the lawyers office. Mom started for the door while Dad stuck the folder under his arm to put a quarter in the meter.

You see where this is going...

A strong gust of wind caught the folder and the papers scattered! Dad yelled for Mom and thinking he'd had a heart attack came running back. They proceeded to run around on the sidewalks snatching papers here and there. Darting out into traffic at some points of the fiasco.

Another gust of wind blew them further away. Dad saw one about 30 feet in the air a half block away. As he ran for it, it suddenly blew off as far as a block.

Cars screeched to a stop, dead in their tracks while the 77 year old couple ran out in front of them. Some kind hearted people got out to help. I'm sure some others weren't as gracious...

One car stopped right on top of one of the sheets of paper with it's tire on top.

Way to pin it down!!! Now please back up about 6 inches...

They got all the papers that they could find and stuffed them nilly willy crumpled in the folder and went to Burger King to calm down and get them put back in the order my sister had them in.

Right about that time, Melanie (my sister) called Dad to ask if the papers were taken care of yet.

Ummm... yeah... about that. Not quite yet... And he told her what had happened.

There was a long pause....

"Ok Dad... Don't go anywhere! I'm on my way!"

So Melanie arrived and knew all the order the papers should go in. And miracle of miracles, they had all the papers there! She gave them a big heavy duty paper clip to clamp them down with and sent them on their way. Good thing she already had that baby huh!? This would definitely have put her into labor if she hadn't!

Thus concludes another episode in the life of my parents.
Tune in next week for the exciting adventures when Mel & Connie move to town!

That must have been STRESSFUL for them (but it makes a GREAT story for us!).

Your sister sounds like she has everything under control. :)
