Fifth of a Century

My first born baby is 20 years old as of yesterday morning at 4:23am. I didn't wake up to celebrate but my husband was. Wanna know why? I forgot to turn the 3:30am alarm off from the day before when we took my parents to the airport... And then he couldn't get back to sleep.

It pays to be unofficially narcoleptic! ;P

Anyway, my baby boy is now 20. We celebrated with a take out lunch from our favorite pizza joint that claims on their bill boards that they're The Best! And they are. One slice of pizza has probably 1 lb of cheese on it and you can get a thick oat crust. I LOVE the oat crust with pepperoni...
After gifts, his girlfriend brought out a ginormous pink cake with a Beauty & the Beast theme which of course he loved, because he was nuts about B&B as a child. On a side note, he was known at his last job as Monroe... Not sure exactly why, but some of his friends call him that.He couldn't sleep without his Belle as a kid...
As part of our gift, I made him a video to document his life thus far. While I was picking out the back ground music I remembered that he used to love Dumbo incredibly! So I found Bette Mitler's rendition of Dumbo's Baby of Mine and watched the video with that music behind it.

SOBBED my eyes out!

That wasn't going to work!

So I enlisted Robb's help and between him and I, we picked several inappropriate songs. Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses was our first choice and thought it would be perfect until I looked at the lyrics and it's really for a girlfriend... Then one about a son on his wedding day. nope.

Robb finally hit on one that was perfect. It made me cry but in a good way and was very touching. So here it is.

A tribute to my son. aka, The Life Of Ryan.

20 years old??? Wow. That time flies, doesn't it? (And may I be the first to tell you...lookin' good Mama! Too young to have a 20 year old...oh, and when my oldest turns 16 in October, would you mind telling me the same? Thanks!) ;)

Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boy!

Beauty and the Beast huh?lol Matt's was Thomas the Tank Engine.

Happy Birthday to your boy!
I thought it might be that song. We used it for graduation slide shows in our home school group. Not a dry eye in the house.
Love the picture of him laughing with his mouth wide open!

Oh, and I meant to add I laughed out loud when I saw Monroe on that cake. My husband calls Jacob that all the time Monroe Eason to be exact. You've given me an idea for his 20th birthday in September...
