A Snooze Of A Weekend

New Years Eve...

I spent the morning spending money, loading up on groceries. Not because I expected an apocalypse of any kind at midnight, but because I hadn't gone on a big grocery run in a long time. It took my husband and 3 of my kids to unload the car while I scrambled on where to put everything in the kitchen and garage fridge. Found where someone had knocked over a bottle soy sauce in the back of the fridge... yuck.

Really felt like sewing that afternoon but it didn't happen.

Church that night and when we got back to the house some neighbors came over to play board games with us and they brought cookies! So it was a good night. With the cheesy chip dip, tortilla wheels and cheese and crackers too, it was a filling night!

Robb played bagpipes at midnight and the freezing wind was ferocious! It made his pipes sound off just a bit. Below is the video from last year. But the New Year is here and may it be a super one!

On New Years Day after church, we had a birthday party for my daughter in law. Her grandma came up to help us celebrate. Afterwards, I wasn't sure if I could talk or stand anymore, so I went and napped for an hour. Whew! Did I need that! Immediately upon awakening, a cousin and his family stopped by. That was a surprise! They were passing through and although we'd seen them briefly at Thanksgiving, hadn't had much time to talk then.

I had Monday off from work, but Robb went in for a while. New Years is a busy time for him. So I took the girls and went shopping again! We bought the pattern & fabric for Mads Sweetheart Ball dress. We're making the circled one but without the tied strap.Maddy had gone shopping with a friend last week and found a dress that she wants to duplicate for this. We think the pattern we found is a perfect match and just need to add extra trim around the upper part of the bodice to complete it. Easy peasy! I hope. Side zipper, no boning. Okey doke! Can do! I hope.

Meri got a couple things at JoAnns too in preparation for her 4H outfit that she wants to make for this next summer. And the girls stocked up on the 99 cent McCalls pattern sale. We need to add some new rooms onto the house to store all my patterns.

After an awesome lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, I took another nap. I hope naps aren't habit forming... I think it might have been a carb induced coma rather than a nap... Irish Shepherds Pie can do that. But we'll see.

Spent an hour looking for the little bow for the baptism outfit I've been working on. I could have made a new one in the time it took me... Oh well. Didn't find it. It's probably sitting under the seat in the car for all I know. I managed to sew on the buttons and started work on the hems. I need to get it done this week. I hope it still fits the little guy!

Anyway, back to work today! Looking forward to making a difference in the world today through my work!

I just hope I don't need to nap this afternoon...

Maddy chose a very cute dress. Can't wait to see it when it's done!

You deserve a nap more than anyone! My dream house would have nothing in it and yours would be filled with sewing stuff.
Have a wonderful new year!

You really amaze me. I may even go into the attic this year and pull out the sewing machine that MR OP bought me for our 1st Valentine's day 26 year's ago and try to start using it again this year. The only thing that I used to sew was Halloween costumes:)

Enjoy the week!

I miss working at Hancocks sometimes because of patterns. When the season was over or the company discontinued a pattern we would pull them but didn't have to send them back so everyone could stock up for free!

That's going to be a pretty dress--love the wide midriff on it. I hate when I spend more time searching for something than it would take to re-create it, but once you've got the sunk cost in searching it's hard to give up.
