Maddy's book bag splayed out a little onto the dining room floor on Friday night. It stayed there until yesterday when I discovered her pencil bag on the floor in the living room. She'd made this bag just before before school started in the fall and was excited that she'd made something herself that she'd use every day. She had installed a zipper in it. It worked really well for her until now...
One of the dogs, (and I think I'm right in which one I suspect) had chewed off the zipper tab and actually the entire corner where the tab had been. All the pencils, pens, erasers and such were still intact inside.

So I made her a new one last night. I found some checked wool and cut it to the dimensions a bit bigger than what she had previously.

Maddy specifically asked if the one I make could be a little bigger. She has lots of pens...

I added some leather-like details and a heavy duty parka zipper that can go down the side. Plus a cutesy little tassle thing at the top. It kind of looks like a shoe.

Hey Maddy! She likes it!

I had a parent who use to make these by the dozen and sell them to students at a local school. Uhm, I could see a part time job for the two of you, or a JA activity :o/
Are you the best mom ever or what?!
cut... I have been thinking of making some more pencil cases again.
