With recording my children when they're not looking...
On Tuesday we drove 3.5 hours to a teeny tiny town in Nebraska to visit with my mom and dad. On the way was pretty uneventful. The time went fast and I knitted on a scarf for Maddy's Ukrainian orphan T.A.G project. I actually completed it (well, except for casting off at the end... I'm not sure how to do that yet...) in the 7 hours stuck in the car with the hubs and girls.
We got to their house by 11:30 or so. Only an hour longer than I had told them because we got a later start than I thought and we needed to stretch our legs a little in Dennison. I had an icepack on my foot the whole way there.
After a little just talking and getting caught up, we went out for lunch at Pizza Hut. YUMM...
Got caught up some more, then went back to their house to hook up the printer and speakers. I actually climbed under their desk to hook things up! Trained my mom on how to scan in pictures while Meri took notes for her to review with later. Robb, Dad and the girls visited in the other room to stay out of our way.
Then we had to leave...
BUT! We did use our standard rule that we set for them. "You need to stay and visit for as long as it took you to drive there." My folks are notorious for driving 4 hours, visiting for two and then leaving again.
The 3.5 - 4 hours home was more eventful. The girls didn't want to nap and chit chatted the whole way. Between them and Robb, they came up with a lot of jokes that I can't repeat here. If you want a short list of them and aren't easily offended by comments about Helen Keller or orphans... email me! :) They threw them right and left, I felt like I was living in the tv show The Office.
That's what she said.
Also you have NO idea how many times I heard the "sounds like" version of the tv show H2O's theme song... The girls weren't quite sure what the words really are, so they made some up."I've got a sick obsession of mermaids because I am one. I swim in the ocean with my tail and fin. I'm a mermaid, but I'm a ordinary girl too! With friend and boy problems... blah blah blah!"
Or something like that. I just looked up the lyrics and boy are THEY wrong!
I love my girls!
So I recorded as much as I could before the camera ran out of space. I really need to clear it soon...

I want to read the jokes! :)
"Are you recording this"?
"No, I'm knitting"!
Love it!
I also love the old Homestead. It makes me sad seeing it just sitting there. Don't wait for Meri, buy it now!

Beautiful colors! I love that little homestead too! Already wondering who used to live there etc. I agree with Mark...buy it now! :-)
Have a great week!!

Hehehe, knitting and not knowing what to do to get it off the needles. Guess you are going to have to make it with the needle attached ;o)
Pretty scarf! And your trip sounds like a lot of fun.
No one parties like you and your family!!!
What a nice visit! I can't imagine not wanting to sleep in the car. My boyfriend's family lives a 9 hour drive away (I have to fly to mine) and I'm always begging him to let me sleep in the car but he wants me to keep him company.
