A Little Light Sewing

I think it was Sunday night...  I finally got the serger threaded correctly after squinting angrily at it for over 30 minutes.  grrr.  Set it for stun rolled hem.

Then cut out another square top for Maddy out of some flowery stuff I had in my stash.  She wanted it a little smaller on the sides as the last square blouse was a little too roomy.  I love roominess in a top, but... whatevs...

Serged the top of each square separately, then stitched them together with a straight stitch at the shoulders, leaving a hole big enough for her head.

Ironing every step as I went along.

Then serged each side from one hem, up over the shoulder and down to the back hem.

Stitched the sides together, leaving holes big enough for her arms.

Then serged a hem all the way around.

I wasn't sure if the rolled hem was going to be tuckable.  But I found out last night that she'd found it on my ironing board and already tried it on.  IT"S A KEEPER!

Plus she's wearing it today babysitting!  So I snapped a pic of her before she headed out the door.

And coincidentally, her outfit matches my shoes today...  Yeah - I won't see them til evening...

Very cute top!

Was it an online pattern? Was it made with woven cotton? Could it be made with cotton jersey? Do you think I ask too many questions?

I miss having a surger but it was one machine that my mother never taught me how to thread.
I wish she had....

She looks adorable! And I bet if you would have cussed the serger instead of just squinting at it it would have worked faster...lol.
