Collegiate Denial

Well, she's in her dorm. While it took 3 days to load the 2 cars, it took all of 10 minutes to unload...  And then another 2 hours to fit it all in.  There were upper classmen helping out.  I honestly wasn't sure there would be room for all her stuff in that little room, but it filtered in nicely.

Only a small bedside table came home besides two of her Rubbermade bins that she didn't want to have to store there.  She kept one.

Her roommate didn't move in until a few hours after that, so the room looked decent by the time more stuff needed to be sifted in.

While Robb met with a client of his nearby on Friday morning, the kids and I explored the town, played at the park and showed Ryan where everything was.  We would have gone into the creepy dying mall, but ran out of time.

As we drove past the towns second downtown coffee shop, Maddy saw a sign in the window for part-time help.  STOP THE CAR!!!  She ran in and grabbed an application.  If she gets that job, she'll be saving over $1500 in coffee and pastry money for the semester and getting paid for it!  score...

We visited the local history stuff and yes.  Ryan and I climbed right up underneath that guy at the top!  In the nosebleed section...

proof.

To my vulgar friends... there isn't anything under there.

Leon was a BIG help the two days we were there!  He kept his daddy and grandpa out of mischief and terrorized the other parents.  Word of advice, don't give him a bag of buttery puffed corn and expect him to walk across the commons properly.

He also had a rotten head cold and was being disagreeable, a lot...

After a "picnic" supper in the cafeteria with our little girl, Robb remembered some auto stuff that he wanted to make sure Maddy had in her car this fall.  So we said our goodbyes in the Walmart parking lot amidst angry drivers and tears.  Leon was screaming in the car because he was tired, wanted me and he didn't give her a proper farewell but hit her in the face.  sigh.  We didn't need that!  We'll make sure we get him with her on Skype.

Saturday I made biscotti with a new recipe.  I hope they turn out ok!  I think I put too many nuts in...  I'll do another batch next week.  Got 4 packs of biscotti in the freezer to ship up to her at various times this fall to dip in her coffee.  Will get a package sent off today with a few things she forgot, a book that didn't arrive in time and a little surprise or two.

I'm excited for her.

So far tho this week, I'm pretending she's at school, various band practices and bonfires with friends and will be home soon.

I think that I am one of your vulgar friends. Its just a guess though.
I hope that you are doing better now that you are down a child. Our house was a lot quieter with Anna gone. She was a loud kid and we didn't know how loud until it was quiet. I still miss her but it has been four years and I think I am adjusted. Her manners have improved greatly as just the other day she said that she didn't want to come home because she didn't like losing her freedom. Bless her. But I am sure that your child is much better than mine. ;P

It gets easier with time and before you know it, they move FAR, FAR, AWAY......

Prayers for you during this transition. My son is a junior and I already dread this transition in my house.
