A Cryin' Shame

We've been spoiling Leon...  Is that such a shocker?

Our usual bed time routine had consisted of me snuggling with him on my bed while he drinks his cup of milk and watching some tv in the dark.  He eventually zonks out and I put him in his crib.

Sounds sweet, doesn't it?

Well, I created a monster.

A ...  neighbor's closet...   That's the ticket!

Sometimes if he cried in the night and his parents had to work or school in the morning, I'd grab him and let him sleep with us.  Which isn't a horrible thing, but he has turned into a squirmer and usually is a hot sweaty little mass that rolls under your back when you attempt to roll over in the night.  So either Robb or myself are relagated to about 6 inches from the edge of the mattress.

Not a comfy way to sleep!

It started getting the best of us last week, when upon reentry to his crib at 2am, he grew wise to our ruse and would start to cry again.  dang.  So we'd take him back to bed with us again.

Oh and only sometimes would he say Okey dokey to sleeping with his parents.
It usually always had to be me.

What can I say?  I'm adorable!

Well, things have changed and G'ma needs her sleep.  More.

So the weekend when he was sick, which was a bad weekend to start with...  I let him cry himself to sleep.  It took 30 minutes and then I caved.  He obviously wasn't tired enough yet and the poor thing was SICK!

What kind of a cruel grandma am I?

sigh.

So a couple nights later, I attempted it again.  Leon has a brilliant plan of crying and screaming and then suddenly starts coughing and making retching sounds as if there is going to be horrible mess in his crib if we don't come running.

I fell for it once.  But not after that.

Our routine now is he snuggles on my bed with me while we watch a little of whatever I choose until he hands me his sippy cup.  At that point, we pray, I tell him I love him and then put him in his crib and he starts the crying.  It has NOT lasted more than 5 minutes and lately no more then 1...

I think we're winning!

Knock on a riding toy...

That sounds like it would be hard to break. It probably breaks your heart too:(

Glad that it's getting better.

Could be worse, my granddaughter has learned how to climb out of the crib and joins us in bed whenever she wants ;o)
