I'm walking on, walking on, broken glass!
Ahh - Annie Lenox. I love her...
Meri and a friend planned a zombie all night party WITH BOYS for Saturday night. But we only allowed her to go IF I could take the boys home at midnight. After consulting with her friends, she said okey dokey. I think the kids were secretly relieved.
Her friend has a farm and great barn filled with horses, manure and hay, or at least that's what her coat smelled like when she got home... Actually it kind of smelled like my grandpa's dairy barn too. weird. It's clean now!
With 4 girls and only 1 brave boy that showed up, they ran around in the dark taking turns being undead, climbed through the hay loft, sat and Skyped with a friend that couldn't make it and ate.. a.. lot... As if the Halloween candy wasn't enough!
Meri made Glass Shard cupcakes. The "glass" is edible and made from boiled down sugar in which she got to find out how to use the candy thermometer and how to drop a little bit into cold water to see how it feels when the candy is done. Then she poured it onto some parchment paper in a pan and let it cool to a nice clear glass pane. She shattered it using my meat tenderizer hammer. Pretty cool! and tasty! I've still got a baggie full of glass bits.
Then she made a red runny frosty to look like blood. Only it turned out too pink.
What medical condition would cause that??
Any way, her friend made cupcakes too but with cookie dough frosting. Meri slept most of Sunday off in a sugar induced coma. She had super secret permission to skip church that day and had worked hard all week so she'd be all caught up for her confirmation class and memory work.
I took the lone brave boy home at midnight. I had to creatively set the alarm clock so I would go get him at old time, not new time. Stupid daylight savings... My extra hour of sleep was taken up with this and then some with Leon. He had a rough couple nights...
The rest of the weekend was spent sewing! and cleaning up after dogs and Leon and family. and cooking and wanting to take a nap with the boy but he wasn't having ANY of it.
I made these! Cute huh?
Yeah, they don't fit. Know any toddlers a lot littler than Leon that could use mittens with thumbs? I think the next ones I make with be minus a thumb. The mittens, not the kid. I guess I could string them together and hang them on the Christmas tree this year... Yeah... maybe I'll do that. Sew on a patch of something he likes and those will be his for the tree.
I sewed a lot on another item, but can't show you a picture until NEXT Monday. I've got to get it finished tonight so I can ship it off in time for a bridal shower next weekend.
THEN! I'm going to start on an outfit for a date! YES!!! I've got a date lined up in 2 weeks with my sweetie. We're going to attend a Scottish Heritage Society dinner and Robb WILL be wearing his kilt. So I can't wear anything that would clash with that or that will make me look fat. Robb is checking out a tartan in our family colors for me to wear with my outfit.
With any luck, I will be considered HIGH SOCIETY!
AND they'll serve Haggis... :) Talk about dangerous chefs!!
Can't get any better than that!
