Talk about a GROOVY time!

On Friday, there were MESSY roads in Minnesota, so Maddy and her roommate got stranded at a hotel rather than driving the rest of the way here.  The interstate was CLOSED...  So they had an adventure getting as much ice from the ice machine as they wanted, watching others get turned away from a very full inn and enjoyed the continental breakfast while they waited.  They finally arrived around noonish on Saturday!  Whew!

Saturday was the big day for Leon.  He is officially two years old!!!  I think he must have been a week overdue when he was born, because the terrible twos really started LAST weekend for him.  What a stubborn crabby butt he can be!  But it's his birthday-tide so I'll shut up about that for now...

Anywho...  We made chocolate bowls for the party!  Aren't these cool?!  And they were so easy to make...  Now that we've done a batch, I know what to do different next time.  Yeah, double dip them!  Some were kind of thin and broke when we pulled the balloons out.  But no matter what, we used all of them for the gang that showed up at the party.
Instructions: Melt chocolate almond bark in the microwave and dip the balloons into it.  Put a bit of the chocolate stuff on wax paper and then set the balloon on it. Let it cool, pop the balloon.  And seriously, the hot chocolate stuff didn't pop the balloons! I really thought it would...

Robb played Happy Birthday on his bagpipes and Leon was enthralled!

LOVED his expression!

Only 1 child near Leon's age could come, but there were enough other people there that love this little guy to pieces, so it was a lot of fun!  The kitchen and dining room were VERY crowded!

The cupcakes were the top of this post and here is the cake.  Isn't the edible image awesome?  And again, go to this chick for those!  HERE.

He had such a blast opening everything!  He is now a pro at this and will unwrap anything you bring within a 6 foot radius.

Spent the rest of the day playing playing playing.  It sure beats cleaning, preparing and cooking!

The girls and I watched "So I married an ax murderer later that evening.

After church on Sunday, we took the girls out to eat at a favorite BBQ joint, which Sonya will have to try when she visits!  There.  It's in writing, so you have to come here within a year and I'll buy dessert!

The waiters and waitresses sang happy birthday to Leon and he got a free sundae!  Life is good...

The girls took off shortly after that so they could get home before dark.

So anyway, that's my groovy weekend.  How was yours?
