The Youngest Bagpipe Roady EVER

Am I a bad grandmother for taking my 2 year old grandson pub hopping?
Don't answer that yet...

Meri, Leon and I drove Robb all over Des Moines, meeting up with his bagpipe band, to perform at several venues all over town.  Leon LOVEs the bagpipe playing!

We all met at a church gymnasium for the pipers to get warmed up that morning and tuned.  I know what you're thinking... How can you tell?  Trust me, you can tell!

While each individual piper was getting their pipes tuned, Leon ran around and played basketball with Meri and actually growled at the pipers when he crawled toward them.

He made some serious fast friends!  While the bagpipes were getting tuned, Leon thought they were playing Happy Birthday and sang along...  It's the most common bagpipe song that he knows!

Then the band members played a few songs together as practice.

As soon as the music started, Leon dropped to one knew and watched intently.  Obviously very impressed!  He had never heard so many pipes in one place before.  That weren't playing Happy Birthday.

The day went on.  We ate between gigs and/or naps.  One place was a nursing home!

Here is his version of the Scottish dancer...  as well as some antics at the nursing home.

At one sports bar, Leon was given beads and a sticker that he couldn't pull off his back.
Perfect!!!

A couple of them had a safari video game that he really got into.  The beauty part of being 2 is that you don't notice that you're running the game with no money!

When he got tired of playing with the nursing home elevator, he took a mock nap.

And if the music got too loud, he just plugged his ears.

We had a fun time!  Kind of long, but good.

And yeah, he lives up to the shirt!

So cute!

I posted a photo of a kitchen towel from Ireland on St. Patrick's Day and thought of you. It's the only Irish thing I have in the house. ;)

He is adorable!!! And as long as he didn't drink in the bars-you aren't a bad grandma! FYI-they sleep better if you let them drink.
