Stubborn Pumpkin Birthdays

lol!  A lot of you guys wanted to see a photo of the murdered calzone and I'm so sorry!!!  Laughing but sorry.  I brought my camera to the dinner but forgot to take it out of my box...

Sunday, again I forgot to use my camera...  we took Maddy out to the HyChi for lunch.  That is the latest and apparently official Twitter name for the Chinese food buffet at the local HyVee grocery store cafe, that we sometimes frequent after church.  The twin that likes us and my mother-in-law came along.  I think I'm kidding about the twin, but the other one decided that escorting an ex-convict to church took priority.
That made for interesting conversation at lunch!

I brought along a birthday cake for Maddy and since I didn't think HyVee would take kindly to me lighting candles in their cafe, Robb shoved a plastic knife upright in the cake and we pretended.

The girl is twenty!!  Well, she wasn't really until Monday but we wouldn't see her then. I'll show you part of her gift tomorrow if I can get her to take a photo of it and send it to me...

After that the girls and I stopped to buy some pumpkins from a friend of Meri's pumpkin patch.  REASONABLE prices!!!  $7 for the largest size!  SOLD!

Maddy picked out a few that won't rot as fast for her dorm.

The girls went out for coffee then and enjoyed some time together before meeting us out at my besties for a quick visit before supper and her departure time.

The kids went out to my bestie's orchard and picked ONE apple.

I don't know why just one, when the apples were practically throwing themselves at them...  Leon can be stubborn.

He doesn't get it from me.

I SAID NO!

I had gotten some Dublin Coddle put together and into the oven for a quick meal for her and also made some bread bowls, because she said the ones from the college caf suck.  She and her roommate wanted some "good" bread bowls.  I don't know what constitutes a "good bread bowl" but these seemed to pass the mustard, or broth..  I had one yesterday with some remaining coddle in it.

It WAS good...

And off she went with a full tummy, full tank of gas and a twenty dollar bill.
See you in November!
