Well... Leon is three now! Forget the peace signs, he now holds up a dubya!
I spent the last week gearing up for two big parties and a sewing meeting... Got to all three events and wow do my feet hurt today! I did NOT get a chance to finish my sweatshirt thingy, but as soon as I do, I'll model it for you.
The big shindigs started Friday night. Leon's other grandma and grandpa came to the house and Leon had a ball showing his room off, playing with them and helping Grandma Amy put pepperonis on a couple pizzas. I made some homemade pizzas, Leon's favorite, and when they got close to being done, Maddy and Matthew came rolling in! We enjoyed dinner on china, because it's a birthday for crying out loud! And Leon even got a crystal water glass for his Sprite!
He blew out the community candle on the cake that Meri made that morning and Leon decorated with M&Ms. Unfortunately I didn't have a 3 candle...
And I'm not ready for him to be 8 yet, so we went with that one.
After cake and presents, he attempted to go down for sleep with the girls in the living room for a sleepover but he was too excited about his toys and couldn't settle down. So I took him up stairs.
Saturday morning, I headed off to my sewing meeting and got blown away by the presentation and the audience. We had so many visitors that we almost ran out of chairs! Our presenter was a member of our group and does costume work for plays all over the country. She showed us how to pad out a dress form to fit our measurements exactly. If I can find the cable for my old camera, I'll download those photos and show you sometime. But today's are all about Leon...
Which is totally ok in my book!
His cake turned out awesome, but small, so when the girls were picking it up for me, I had them get a second generic cake.
After the meeting, I didn't stick around for the officers meeting, which I really probably should have, but I had a party to attend!!! I headed home and got a few things whisked together to head back out the door to Monkey Joe's in Des Moines.
My niece and her fiance. They're getting married this summer and I'm making her veil!
A photo booth bombing by Robb...
AWESOME place! 7 huge inflatables, all indoors! Leon and his 7 friends that we invited, ran all over that place with the hundreds of other kids and their families. They wore themselves out before cake and ice cream in our blue party room.
Leon even got a visit from Monkey Joe himself! I didn't realize that there WAS an actual Monkey Joe... Oh and when you pay this price for a party room here, THEY do ALL the serving! And I mean, they give each person their pizza, you don't just grab it off a platter. They cut and served all the cake and drinks to everyone, not just the kids! We were so impressed with their service that we're going to hire them to our next Thanksgiving... Monkey Joe too! The kids loved him.
The birthday boy also gets to go in the Gift Grab booth and grab as many tickets as possible. Leon was so funny! Below is a video of him grabbing at everything.
The party was a huge success and one little cousin even threw up! So yep... a total success! Leon had a blast and was King for yet another day.
He went home with his mom and Maddy, Matthew and Meri headed off to go shopping and a movie before coming back to the house. I got a chance to finally finish Sonya's book!
On Sunday after church, we all went to HyChi for the Chinese all you can eat buffet. YUM! Then went back to the house where I hemmed a pair of slacks for Matthew and mended a shirt for Maddy before a quick get together at my bestie's. Then M&M headed back north so Maddy could get to her first children's theater read through. We're so looking forward to seeing it!
What a weekend! And it still wasn't done, but I'm out of words and I want to save a few photos for tomorrow.

looks like a great time was had by all.
Happy Birthday to Leon! Looks like he has a great group of people to guide him through life.
I'm finally able to breathe and wanted to stop by and catch up. What a great party! We had a Monkey joe's for a short while and it closed down. I never made it to the place.
Your family is adorable and so wholesome even if they vomit!
When my kids were little we would have a few different parties for them and there were a few times when one side couldn't make it so we would have another and then another and maybe one more for friends.
