Cleaning drawers is a riot! Or so Leon thinks.
Leon dressed up like Superman most of the afternoon yesterday.
I've been finding little toys that he's immediately claimed. I've also found Maddy's old "Maddy is an official Big Sister" button, which Ryan immediately claimed and stuck on his cap.
Ryan also claimed my Mikado button...
I was in Gilbert & Sullivan's Mikado when I was in high school. Three little maids from school were we! Sorry... Anyway, when Robb found that a professional troupe was putting it on nearby, for our anniversary he bought tickets to it. He slept through most of it, but I was singing along in my head to all the songs! The button was a souvenir of that event.
Ryan couldn't even pronounce it, but took the button anyway. Oh well... At least someone is enjoying it!
We had a Skype call with Maddy last night and she wasn't too pleased Ryan claimed her Big Sister button either, but I'm pretty sure Ryan's Big Brother button is in his memory box. I'll dig it out later and then he'll swap.
I got ruthless throwing away things and stuff... Little mementos from years past, some still precious memories, will get stuck in a memory box. But things like old pencils from Valentine's day 20 years ago, probably don't need to be kept. As my son said, hand writing is a lost art!
Well, I'm still keeping the pad of paper that I found that helps with penmanship! Leon will want to practice his numbers someday! AND I found lots of various types of flashcards. Some about the alphabet, some about math, some about piano keys... Don't remember where we got that one!
I also straightened up the cook book shelf this morning. I am LOATHE to get rid of any of them as I had gleaned through them all last year. So the ones that I have are the ones that I'm keeping.
I need to cook more from them, like we used to! Whatever happened to new recipe Sundays?? Every Sunday night, we'd make a new dish that we'd hunted and investigated for all week... It was especially fun around St. Patrick's day, when we'd try out new Irish dishes in preparation for our annual St. Patick's Day meal out at my besties! Ah memories...
It's a trip down memory lane for suire, digging around in my house...

I'm loathe to get rid of things that mean something to me. But it sure does give me peace of mind when I do jump in and throw away.
You need to enter the giveaway on my blog from last Wednesday. I'm picking a winner tonight! I don't even know what I'm giving away yet. ;)
I loath bringing things into the house. I actually can feel my blood pressure going up. I really would get rid of 80% of what we have in the house if certain people would let me.
DJ has some kind of learning disability that he never could learn cursive and can barely print. They said it was a wiring problem in his head and a lot of doctor have it too. So he really lucked out that everything is on the computer. It was so hard for him that all he really can write in cursive is his name. That's an odd fact about him, isn't it?
Since we seem to be on the topic of "loathing" I loathe getting rid of something and then having to REBUY it because now I need it again!! Grrrrrrr!!
I have a hard time getting rid of cookbooks. Everyone has a recipe or two.
