P and Snow

Leonism #463  Meri, Leon and I are out and about.  I don't remember why...  But we stopped at the DQ for smoothies.  He was insisting on blueberry and acted like I forgot to order something at the drive through.  "AND BLUEBERRY!!!"  Well they didn't have blueberry!  So I ordered something like Orange, Berry-Pom and something else berryish, hoping one of them was blue-ish in color so I could pass it off to him.

We got to the window and the girl handed me all three.  She said, I'll let you guess which one is the Pomegranate!  *oh... that's what Berry Pom stood for! *  It was pink/purpley.  Two of them were exactly the same color, but I said, "Oh!  The Pomegranate has a P on it."  And it did!  Written on the top of the cup.

Leon overheard.  He hears everything and repeats everything.  In shock he asked, "It has PEE on it??"  He didn't want that one.

Anyway, what a weekend.  Let me wear you out!

Friday.  I don't remember.  I think Meri stayed overnight at a friends house...  I think I actually relaxed and was quite possibly a couch potato.  Aren't you proud of me?  I was going to sew, but it didn't happen.

Saturday, Meri and I attended our ASG sewing meeting together.  Got SEW inspired to do some upcycling!!!  Great program!

Left there and picked up Leon and his daddy, and went to the CIRCUS!!!!  And that's exactly what Leon called it everytime we asked him where we were going. "thE CIRCUS!!!!"  He had no clue what it was.  When asked what he was going to see there, he said a log and rock. *woohoo!*

The circus was a lot of fun, but it was too bright in this venue and we were stupid and got seats on the floor rather than some up higher.  Couldn't see as much as we wanted to.  The kids loved what they did get to see.

BUT Leon got cotton candy and a dragon, so all was not lost.  PLUS he got to see the Transformer Bumblebee, which he is a huge fan of!  It wasn't like the BIG DEAL circus I remembered of my youth, but it was for kids and the kids loved it.  So that's all that mattered.

At intermission, when Leon saw Bumblebee, they had put up some bouncy houses for kids, but the lines were as long as the DMV, so we just walked around and looked at the elephants and ponies that other kids were riding on.  When Robb asked Leon what he saw at the circus, all he told him was that he saw BIG elephant poop.  And YES he did!!!  Wouldn't you know that's the first thing kids pick up on..?

Yes, a dragon in a wagon.

Sunday was Robb's birthday!  And we celebrated by driving 3 hours north to see Maddy for a choir concert.  About 10 miles from home I remembered what the day was...  Oops!  :)  We got to town in time to visit with Maddy, Leah and Matthew at the commons before church.  Then took them all out for lunch at our favorite German restaurant in town.  The Hasselhoff or some similar sounding name but Meri always calls it that.  LOVE their German potato salad!!!

On one of my many trips to the bathroom with Leon, I asked them if they did anything special for birthdays since I had a birthday boy sitting at my table.  They said no.  darn.  That's ok!  I figured they wouldn't put a sombrero on him and sing with maracas or anything, but maybe a piece of cake with a candle...
And then at the end of the meal, they did!  Our waitress was awesome and brought it out to him for dessert!  Leon helped him blow out the candle and ate most of it.  I got the frosting, as it was German chocolate and excuse me but yum...

We went back to the commons area and hung out in the game room while waiting for our time to go over to the chapel for the concert.  I taught Meri how to play pool.  And if you've ever heard of the blind leading the blind... well, let's just say, I knew the rules...  not the skills, but the rules.

The game took forever but I did beat her!

Robb and Matthew played a wicked game of ping pong .

And Leon made cushion bridges and played hot lava with cushions, threw a pool ball and then played a little ping pong too.  FUN!

The concert was beautiful!  It was so cool to see Maddy up there with her group and know how much she's grown over the last two years being here.  It made me wish ONCE AGAIN that I could go back to college.  Not that I need more education, *I do but I don't want to go for the classes!* but for the fun.
I loved my college years!

After the first few songs, I finally got Leon to take a nap!

The choir's microphone was on a tower set very close to where we were sitting...  Yeah, Leon was a booger and their recording of the concert is a wash...  I can't wait to get a copy and listen for my boy!
and girl of course!!!

Afterwards, we visited with her for a few minutes, but just before the concert, micro beads of snow had started to fall and by the end, there were huge snowflakes covering everything.  Oh dear.  So we hit the road.  Robb had been meaning to get new tires on this car last week when he had it off from work, but too many fun things came up so it didn't happen.  We needed them today.  After sliding into the next lane on a curved bit of highway, he slowed down even more and we crawled to where the highway finally turned south.  At the city that I had guessed things would clear up, they did!  Suddenly no snow in the ditches anymore and no icy frozen slush on the road!!  YAY!  We were able to pick up the speed after that.

Stopping for food just into Iowa, we saw a family from home that has kids my girls ages.  Isn't that cool Maddy?  Paige and Claires family!  They'd been in Florida and flew into Minneapolis for their way home.  SMALL WORLD!  They had good tires and enjoyed the mini blizzard...

Anyway, we got home in time to see Ryan get the dogs outside for us.  They'd been in all day and getting a wee wee bit anxious!

We plan to have a dinner party for Robb on Tuesday, as that's the next time at least a quorum of us will be home!  And it will give me a chance later today to actually pick up his gift...  :)

So.  Are you as worn out as I am?

You are always working circles around me. How do you do it? The circus! Any circus is a good circus when it comes to kids. I want to go to your sewing guild meetings! I do not want to go through snow to get their though. Happy birthday to Robb.

The year Noah was born the RBros/B&B circus started giving out free tickets to kids born that year(I think they still do it.)
We never got around to taking him to the Granddaddy of all circuses though so he can use it when he has kids. lolz

Leon is AWESOME and he might grow up to be a comedian. I would pay to see him.
