I took lots of photos over the weekend, but the camera doesn't download onto this computer... So you're stuck with what I did last night and took on my cell phone.
The Ban Roll put in an appearance and I got to work on the hem of the wedding dress that I'm working on.
After handstitching the rhinestone belt into place so I wouldn't lose the placement due to pins shifting, I cut off the amount of hem that we'd agreed on. There are yards of a hemmed strip waiting for me to make it into a rosette of sorts. We'll see what I do with that...
The Ban Roll needed the edging cut off. I think I must have done a terrible job on that, because as I pulled off the 3-4 strings to form a small hem, sometimes it took 6-7 rows to make something to stitch on... Yikes. My scissors must have been off by a bunch! I may have been distracted the Hawaii Five O as I cut...
I set the stitch length to the shortest I could on my machine and sewed the Ban Roll onto the hem. It went on easily but because of the tiny stitches, seemed to take forever. Robb had come upstairs when I was about half way through the first step and was trying to watch a tv show while I sewed. I lined up a few inches of where to sew and when I stepped on the pedal, Robb had to pause the show. Yay for Tivo! He didn't complain, but I felt guilty... He eventually gave up and went to sleep even with me stitching away behind him.
So before the Ban Roll could slide out of the seam, I flipped it around to the backside of the fabric and stitched in the final seam. Super easy! and I was slapping myself on the back, thinking about the wonderful things I could make with this stuff! It was looking SO pretty!!! The seams were looking WAY better than any of my 3 seam method...
Got done and started pulling out the Ban Roll to see the beauty that was my new hem and was disappointed. In some places I hadn't sewn the final seam on close enough to the edge and the hem pulled out in those spots. So I've got raw fabric putting in an appearance in spots... DARN!!!
I'll revisit that over lunch I think... And use an iron on the remaining hem. Maybe it's not as bad as I think...
sigh...
And maybe I shouldn't have used a wedding gown for my first attempt with this product...
