Maddypalooza

The Maddypalooza started on Friday night when Maddy arrived home with Matthew.  We had a late supper of twice-baked potato soup and chili. YUM!   Then cake and ice cream since Robb's sister was here for the evening and wouldn't be able to celebrate with us later on in the weekend.

Early the next morning we headed to a town about 1.5 miles away to watch Meri's band compete in a major band parade with lots of candy.

Leon wasted a little time because he saw a slide...

Also, he didn't sound like a fair parade goer with his begging for candy in this one..
We had to tone it down a  little so he wouldn't sound like a brat.

He could NEVER be!

Meri's band came by a lot sooner than the last parade but we still got more candy than last weeks and we waited two hours last time...  They won first place again!

We gathered Meri from the band bus and headed to western Iowa to my uncles memorial get together that I mentioned yesterday.  Then headed home that night.  The kids, except for Leon, were wiped out.  Leon played with the kindle games the entire 3 hours...  BEST purchase we ever made!

On Sunday after church, Maddy, Matthew, Meri and myself went out for lunch, shoe shopping and mall riding.  Aren't these pandas adorable??

Maddy took all the photos so there are NONE of her riding this!  $5 for 10 minutes.  These are awesome...
They even got ME to ride it for 30 seconds!

Then because the local movie theater was showing old classics, we went to the Princess Bride on the big screen. It had been more than 20 years since I'd see it at a theater!  LOVED it!

Spent the rest of the day getting ready for a super secret steak night to celebrate Maddy's birthday before she left to get back to campus.

We had gotten her a smart phone AND an accordion, because those two gifts just go together, no?
Now she can play it on street corners and drum up some money to pay for college!  ;)

Happy 21st Birthday Dear!!!  I hope you have a great one today, being your REAL birthday.  We had a great Maddypalooza with you home!

How can she be 21?! Happy birthday to your girl.

I'm jealous! The Princess Bride on the big screen? Awesome.

Leon could never be a brat. Never. Because grandchildren cannot even go there.
