After church on Sunday, we took the kids out to lunch and Leon discovered that he loves Chinese food! Mostly just the chop sticks but hey! He's further than Maddy was when she discovered sugared donuts and jello on the Chinese buffet at age 3! She said, "I just LOVE Chinese food!"
You can't see it at all, but I sewed a dress for Maddy while she was home. She picked something out of a Burda magazine and I made it. I can see some changes that I need to make the next time I sew it for her, but she's happy to have a new "teacher" dress.
Then these two packed up and headed back north. Maddy is student teaching for a week before classes start back up. She gets to teach 5 classes today and tomorrow, from what she texted me.
I can't believe it's Thursday already!!! The week has been a blur. The ornaments are off the tree but it's waiting for me to sew those bags I promised myself, so we can tuck each section up above the garage in the storage space I found when I stopped some leaks a few weeks ago. AHA! Fresh spots to stash stuff!!! Well, just the tree. And my favorite pair of reading glasses that I suspect got dropped up there... Maddy will just be thrilled when I finally take down the ladder from the ceiling opening. It freaks her out! I have til March...
We celebrated Meri's birthday by having her skip a little school and visit the DOT. She called me as soon as they were done and said that she failed the eye exam. I was disappointed for her until she said, "Just kidding. My bangs fell over and I couldn't see the lights on the left side." Oh ha ha.
She now has her license!!! Robb dropped her off where we parked her truck the night before and she drove herself back to school and the events that followed. She is very excited to be driving, but today was iffy. The roads are a little slick and it's snowing. I'm glad she has 4 wheel drive on that thing!
And a couple Leon-isms to complete my morning.
Yesterday Leon came downstairs completely dressed for the day, minus undersnorks and sox, but hey, it's a start! He had picked out his own clothes and dressed himself. I was impressed and asked how he did that. He said, "Because I'm smart." Oh yes he is!!!
Later he had just woken up his dad and had his index finger high in the air as he guided him downstairs. "Dad! Follow the finger line!" I asked him if he'd learned that at school and he said that he'd "just thinked it up by myself."
He's been REALLY into following the Lego instructions and is a wizard at putting them together now. I'm really impressed! He just started the following Lego instructions correctly in the last couple days. I hope it continues on into real life instructions and directions...
Anyway, have a great Thursday and it's almost FRIDAY!!!!
