I finally was able to take lunch at 3pm yesterday. Work was a doozy... Luckily I'd ran inside at 11:30 and made myself a salad to eat at my desk, so I wasn't hungry. So I got to use the entire hour tracing out the pattern and other housework related items.
I didn't want to cut the pattern itself, just in case I guessed on the wrong size and then where are we??... So I have a roll of an aisle runner with pretty flowers on it to use for tracing. It works SO slick! And sticks to the fabric pretty well so I don't have to use pins or pattern weights much.
After finding some ghastly stuff in my stash, that I saved for JUST this reason, I cut out the pieces for the sample dress. Meri's confirmation dress was handy, so I used that as a guide for the size to cut.
When we try the sample on her, I can get the sizing down right and make the adjustments to the pattern for future use. THEN whip out ten of these babies a month for her!! She'll be known as the "one dress style" girl! So will Maddy, once I get her dress perfected...
But all that ain't going to happen tonight...

I read a news story yesterday about a woman who wore the same black dress every day for a year an nobody really noticed. And of course wrote a blog about it. At least your girls' will have different patterns :)
I am all about finding a style that works for you and "working it"! lolz
There is nothing wrong with having one style. I FINALLY found a brand/style of jeans that I like this year, so I bought 2 pairs and that is all I wear. Throw on a sweater and I am good to go. There is nothing wrong with wearing the same style over and over and over. Makes getting dressed easier.
If it looks good and feels good then wear it! Those ugly fabrics do have another use. ;) I'll have to remember that.
