Well, Friday was rather lame compared to the happenings on Thursday. I mostly hung around the house and did some cleaning. Meri had to work all week, except for Thursday, at her TWO jobs, a daycare and the antique mall. So the two days I took off to spend with her on her spring break were jam packed into one. That's nothing compared to the days I took off to spend with Maddy on her spring break... but that's next week. ;)
I spent the afternoon working on my antique sewing machine, making the ruffler attachment work without poking my finger and making it bleed.
Got some awesome samples made and was READY for my demonstration at the Saturday sewing meeting.
Someone brought cake!!! :) Life is good!
But then all the ladies and their sewing machines showed up. Mine was pretty yellowed compared to their beautiful machines and I think my Brother sewing machine took it to heart. It wouldn't work at all... PLUS the ruffler attachment jabbed my finger good and I bled all over the samples...
Yep - I'm done with my demo! THIS is what it can do but it's not cooperating with me today.
SO many ladies took one look at my machine, samples and attachment and said, "Yep, I've done the ruffler a TON for my girls!" and they moved on to the machines that purred and did a blind hem and your dishes with the seamstress blind folded. I just sat and drooled. Then abandoned my machine and hunted down some free fabric and snacks.
Isn't this necklace awesome??! I'm going to have to start collecting zippers and make my own some day.
I learned how to use the button foot! I think I have one for one of my machines. I'll have to track that down to save my sanity.
I must have been in a funk mood, because I wasn't feeling very good during the meeting and one woman was complaining about her back and when I asked her what is it? She answered Life. I think I was expecting her to say "old age", because I said, "yeah... it sucks." So I'm sure she's thinking that I"m going through something horrific in my personal life and that my life sucks... It doesn't. But getting old and having the trappings that go with it do.
As I'm finding out.
But I was too tired and ill feeling to care what she thought at that moment and it was as I was leaving... So I worried over my comments the whole way home, thinking that I was an idiot and should just keep my mouth shut.
Got home and took a "short" nap. It turned into a long one plus an episode of Midsomer Murders. The county is down by 3 more souls now. darn. Sucky place to live.
And I was freezing... Yeah, I'm pretty sure I was running a temp. yay me... I found a thermometer and it thought my temp was 94 degrees F. REALLY? I don't think so.
The rest of the evening was a blur. I think we must have had dinner but I went to bed early that night.
Felt so much better on Sunday!

My machine and your machine could be best buds. I don't even have a ruffler. And after sewing all those ruffled pants for that business a year ago I was spoiled. Now I ruffle by hand. It takes a while, but it's pretty.
Feel better my friend. I would say that you are sick or maybe a zombie if your temp was that low but I'm no doctor, I jut play one when I am drinking. ;p
hi Val, it has been a long time since I have been over to say hi. Looking through your blog I am loving the pictures of Leon, last time I was keeping up to date with blogs was just after his birth. I hope you feel better soon. Still lots of amazing things I see. Big hug from Oman xxx Clo
