Maddy made it home Friday early evening and we enjoyed a great birthday dinner of homemade pizza with her.
We overestimated how many pizzas to make and we probably still have a ton in the fridge.
No wait. I forgot about later that evening when some nieces and nephews discovered them for a late night snack.
Maddy got lots of nice things and it was so great to have her home, if just for the weekend.
After a nice relaxing evening and visiting while laying on the couches, the tons of company started rolling in. A BIL and his family arrived from all directions.
I spent most of the next day at a mission rally that I shouldn't get out of while Robb spent the day cooking and entertaining the masses. My rally was awesome! A man and his wife, who has escaped a country because they were targeted to be killed due to their religion, had spoken. Amazing! I was so impressed by their courage and their faith. I don't know if I'd be able to leave my grown kids and their children behind...
I got back in time to help Robb get the 50/50 birthday supper celebration going and was on my feet non stop the rest of the evening. We waited to eat until Meri got home from work. Well... we gave up about ten minutes before she was due home. The FOOD was ready!!! (In the manner of A Christmas Story. The BELL rang!)
But before that, the nieces and the nephews-in-law played football out in the street. Some young neighbor boys joined in but pretty soon they decided to move the game to the back yard. Um... stay away from "dog poop hill" boys!!! They had a blast. One dad came to pick up his son and we'd never met him before. For all we know, the guys told these boys that there were Pokemon back there...
As the boys were leaving, I heard one of them arguing with another saying, "Well, Tyler's Dad knew where we were!" Whoops!
Then we made the next generation decorate with all the black balloons I'd brought home.
Steak/bavarian pork loin and tons of sides later, we were all stuffed. There was an 8 foot full kid's table in the living room too. Those guys had a great time and it was chaotic and noisy.
Still room for desserts of course! And we learned a new phrase to say if anyone doesn't blow out all their birthday candles. "You're a disgrace to the German Army!"
Oh the things you can learn from Hogan's Heroes!
After dinner dishes were a third of the way done, the kids and a couple aunts and myself played cards. We learned a new game from the German Army boyfriend of a niece called Friends with Words and Meri taught us Drug Dealer. These are both card games!!! But I was a policeman on the last hand and I got to bust someone pretty early on! WOOHOO!!!
Wink at ME will you??!!
That was two days of my weekend. I'll talk at you tomorrow... It's almost 9am and I've got a laundry list of things to get done before 10. Ok ok... 5.

You'll be able to leave up those black balloons for Halloween! Good thinking! Card games are the best though I'm sure I haven't played THOSE games before! I'm really missing out on a great life experience!
This post leaves me wanting to know 3 things:
The recipe for Bavarian Pork
How to play card game 1
How to play card game 2
And I am so going to steal the phrase "You are a disgrace to the German Army" It's just too good to not use!
I also am in need of the recipe for Bavarian Pork!
Wow! You're busy as always. It looks like a great party for Maddy! I'm glad she made it home. We just learned that second card game, but it's called Killer around these parts. The wink gave it away!
