On Saturday, while Meri and her friends were getting all dolled up for the Sweetheart dance, I went upstairs and sewed. My great-niece is going to be the flower girl in the upcoming wedding and I wanted to make her a wearable sample dress, so I asked her mom what colors were her favorite.
Purples and pinks. No sweat!
I dug some various purples and pinks out of my stash, so the dress was free to make. The pink sash is actually from one of the prom dresses that I picked up. Couldn't find a zipper to match, so it's a yellow zipper. Yellow is Maddy's favorite color, so it'll all tie together...
Maddy had picked several dresses that she liked and Norah ultimately got to pick which one she liked the best. So I hope she likes it! It was a rush job, so not entirely perfect, but the seams are finished and her mom can cut out the built in crinoline if she wants later.
When I make the actual dress, I'll put more effort into it and it will probably take more than a weekend to complete. But I started at 3pm Saturday and sewed until bedtime, taking out an hour to take photos. Then for about 4 hours on Sunday. I got in so many episodes of Malcolm in the Middle during that time that Netflix stopped and asked me, "Are you still watching?" twice.
Oh yeah...! Keep em comin'!
So the dress is boxed up and ready for me to mail off to the little princess. I ran to the post office yesterday to mail it and was one minute late. They'd closed two minutes early... argggh. Our post office has odd hours and I never get there on time.
It'll be white for the actual event.

Super sweet. She'll enjoy having two versions of the dress.

Pretty! I love that you used a yellow zipper. ;) Our post office is the same way. I watched most of the first season of The Crown on Netflix while I was sewing Swoon quilt blocks. Now I have to wait until they put out season 2...
