Egg-citement

On Tuesday night, we attended Meri's full dress rehearsal for the school musical.  It's the only night you can take pics and wow, did I take some bad ones...
I must not have had my glasses on for some of the blurrier and darker ones.

What a great shot of the back of their heads...

I was about 20 minutes late due to a Science trip meeting for parents in the same building.  Meri is going to Florida with some other students this summer.  She's been planning this for almost two years!  PLUS she's got a band trip to Nashville coming up soon too.  What a jet setter!

Robb sat with Leon in the auditorium and they got to see Meri's speaking lines.  darn.  But I'll get to see the play in it's entirety twice this weekend!

At intermission, Robb left and Leon stayed with me.  Leon's going to miss it this weekend.  At one point, when all the fairytale characters ran all over the auditorium, Meri, in her Humpty Dumpty costume ran over and danced with him in the aisle.  The high light of his week!

As he watched the first Fiona sing, he said, "I think I really like her!"  What a flirt!

At the end, Meri came over

and then at Leon's request, introduced him to Donkey.
and of course the young Fiona.

The play was a lot of fun.  It's amazing to hear a British accent come out of a kid who also played Zeus in the fall play.  He sounded JUST like the movie Shrek!  Except one of his green ears kept falling off.  I've heard that's been corrected.

AND he was so into the part that he actually shaved his head for the production...  What commitment!

Meri, as I mentioned, is Humpty Dumpty.  The first day she tried the costume on, she came home saying, "I couldn't move at all..."  She had a great solo part in one of the last songs.  Here she is about half way through.

Boy, can she belt out a song!

She also had a few other "behind the scene" rolls, including being in charge of painting the set.  It was incredible!  SO glad she'll be home more though, now that it's almost over.

Last night, she and a few of her friends came over and they made tons of cookies for this weekend's intermissions.  Each kid is supposed to take a 1-2 dozen.  I think each of these kids brought at least 4 dozen cookies each.  Lots of laughter downstairs as I sewed on the wedding dress upstairs.

She'll go far in whatever she decides to do with her life.
We're pretty proud of this egg...

Yay!!!! What a set of lungs. Congratulations. You must be so proud!
As a former dancer/dance instructor, I always wondered why more families didn't take advantage of the chance to go to dress rehearsals. Dress dress rehearsals are especially forgiving of families with wiggly little ones. My former studio used to make it quite clear that you could take all the pictures you wanted AT DRESS REHEARSAL, and would even be allowed in the wings, (we gave out parent passes for safety) but if the ushers found you doing so during the show, or your children couldn't be quieted, you would be asked to leave.

Kids who take drama will go far in life, no matter what they end up doing. Very talented!

I second that Meri will excel in whatever she does.
